bonnet hood questions

Hello NAM Gang,

I have an 05 Cooper, CR and have put the M7 brace on, but it doesn't fit well under the Cooper bonnet. The MCS bonnet has more room for the brace.

Would a MCS bonnet bolt right up to and fit just right?

If so anyone have one for sell?

Thanks D

Having a MCS bonnet won't eliminate fitment issues with the m7 STB. That MCS's also have this promblem has been discussed at length, especially in model years after MINI bulked up the hood insulation (including 2005). Have you tried the "soak and slam" method? If not, run a search. That's what I did and it now fits "better." If you really want to eliminate fitment issues, some people have trimmed the hood liner where it contacts the STB. This also is discussed in a few other threads. Good luck.

Thanks Jay, the issue for my MC is the fact that the MC bonnet profile is lower then MCS at the outside, so when I did the soak and slam, the two bolts that hold the brace to the mounting plates made nice dents from the inside out. My Bad. I'm willing to live with the dents, but thought if I could put a MCS bonnet on it would be nice.

WOW!!! Dents? I'd be pissed! Did M7 say anything about it not fitting on a MC?

I did not buy it from M7. M7 doesn't show the system a MC, just MCS. Had I done my research BEFORE buying it from a local MCS owner, I would have know what I know now. The dents are small and the few people I have asked to look for them have not been able to find them and when I'm in the MINI I can't see them. I really like the M7 Brace system. Once I fit an MCS bonnet I'll be set.
