Have you thought about blacking out the muffler? Not the tips, just the rear part of the can.

Are you going to do the front grill ring and tailight surrounds? I like what you done, but it seems that paint DOESN'T stick to chrome very well over time. I used own a 2000 Contour SVT and do give our cars a more Mondeo look (Mondeo was the European version of the Contour) was to have the grill ring surround taken apart and placed in a bath of muratic acid for about 2 days. Once this was done, the grill ring was transformed from a chrome ring to a dull, gray ring w/ NO chrome to be found. Good luck

You can buy a black grill surround for the MCS. I think it is a JCW spin-off from the aero kit.

yea i plan on getting the grill surround robin is talking about. And while yes, paint doesnt ussually stick to chrome well, this is plastic. Plus even if it does chip or flake, I can just touch it up. thats my feeling, but you are probably right, it itsnt a permanent thing

Yup, you can see it in action on a couple different R56s in this thread:

A few places have them, but this is the best price I've seen so far:

family strang.- yea it was just a matte black i found in my garage, i actually did not go out to get any of the supplies that day, used gogon that i had, a plastic knife, poster 3m sicky things to put it back, and the spray paint was like one for a BBQ that could wistand heat, wear and tear, weather and all, so i thought it would work.

whole project done= 0 dollars spent, priceless

Nice. I don't have my DS MCS yet (3 months), but this will be one the first things I do.

The black wings look cool.

I wanted to paint my badges CR to match the car. I tried some paint on them, but even after sanding the surface before painting, it chipped and flaked off with very little effort. I have decided to either debadge entirely and patch the holes, or mold some MINI badges out of fiberglas or something and then paint. I was even thinking of putting raised letters for the "MINI" in the mold, but I haven't figured out the best way to do that.

Looks very good. I love black and hate too much chrome. To keep the theme I would paint the tail light rims and use the black tape to black out the belt line, I think the R56 uses 5/8". If you really want to go work it, you can do the side "S" badge, door handles, and gas cap in black. I have most of my chrome accents in bronze.
Keep up the good work.

haha alrite back on topic, I read that you were getting black chrome tips for your exhaust. sounds pretty cool, are you doing just the tips, or are you putting in a whole new exhaust?
