Interior/Exterior Brake duct install...

Not to get too off topic, but talking of airflow... Putting the "little brick that could" aside for a moment, does anyone have a link explaining why those F1 cars look like an evening dress from a slasher movie? What's up with all those little winglets and thingees hanging off the sides, etc? At least GTP cars still look like they are cars (especially when the rules change back and they all have roofs again) and the airflow is pretty easy to follow.
Back to normal transmission.

It seems like they're all about creating vortexes for air extraction rather than smooth flow, which is why the cars are sprouting winglets and stuff left and right.

Sid:
I don't know how many of these Way has sold, but my inquiries here only turned up a handful of NAM posters who had talked about them. I really like the look--and I've pondered many alternative bumper looks over the years. Here's a slightly better image made this morning.
As for the backdrop--I saw the artist paint the Angel (modern I believe) for the store (Angel Alley) on old Route 66 in Albuquerque. These kind of backdrops are springing up all over--who needs a steenkin studio?
Cheers,

Yes, Sid--the dreaded Joey mod. Mmm, I bet you can imagine how many times I've thought of doing it...
And thanks MiniGuru--you truly are a guru in the world of the flying brick. Although up close they have that very hand-made look, they integrate very well into the bumper and no-one (I mean no-one) would ever pick them as other than OEM. That's the problem darn it. Nearly every one of my mods looks like it should have been there from day one -- haha. The only people in town who acknowledge them are the guys at Sandia MINI -- they always comment how well all the mods combine.
I have lots of exemplars here on NAM!

Well that's impressive if you don't get any fade. I get fade and don't even have 1000* rotor temps. That's why I made the brake ducts, these are really function over form as they WILL get air to cool the brakes. I can't say these will let you brake deeper if you are having such success already, but I can say that getting air flowing in to cool the rotors and other parts will help make everything last longer. Those temps really do a number on the ball joints, wheel bearings, and axles. The temps can actually cause the grease in the parts to overheat and break down. Just something to think about.

I was up at Webb a few years ago and saw some of Randy's brake pads that had melted! If you drive hard at the track, you prolly need all the help you can get--and if not, it's just insurance against some bad draws from the bingo cage.
The Albuquerque track is 1.4 miles, 14 corners (feels more like 16). I get fade after about 10 hard laps. Not excessive but noticable. I'm hoping the ducts will give me 5 more (fun laps !!)
For me, the Way ducts combine appearance with performance. There's no other way to get that look (check out the photos of MSFITOY--it looks fantastic) let's be honest. I *never* used the driving lights (I hate driving at night, actually). And the ducts clearly pour a lot of air onto the calipers. I've seen how much air comes into my FAD, and the Way ducts are 2x that area.
This is a mod in the extreme class, and not for the faint hearted, but really not that difficult for someone who's done every other mod on their car.

Since adding the ducts I never run out brake during a session. Before the ducts even with a BBK and track pads on a smaller 1.3 course with lots of turns I'd see fade. Now no fade, even pushing it on the Dragon with street pads.
Go for it Bean, you need them.
Nice job on the install Doc, looks great.
