How To R53 Drivetrain :: Supercharger Pulley Install How-To
#76
Just had my pulley done today . 17% pulley. Think they may have killed the charger or at least a bearing ! God I hope it's just the tensioner! All I know is it now sounds terrible by the snout of the charger !
Going to try to take a video with sound so you can see and hear ..
I told them that it's not right that it sounds like a bad bearing.. They seem to think its just the way the charger sounds with a smaller pulley..
Not sure what to do now?!

None of the links to other pics work anymore.... UNBAN Randy!!!! This guy WAS a big part of this site - what's up? His site isn't online anymore either.
Nevermind - I found a great How To at MiniMania: http://new.minimania.com/article/168...n_Instructions

Likely the images were hosted somewhere that no longer exists so they're ghosted.
It is interesting though and I appreciate the bump because just gave a browse of Randy Webb.
Randy Webb was what I'd call a 'plankowner' in the MINI tuning world. I tried to pull up real old posts about him but search is only going back to 2007 ... but even in 2007 there were threads about "hiring" Randy to come to an area where he'd install mods for folks. Most often these were called 'pulley parties' because the supercharger pulley change was the game changer starting not long after 2002's hit the street. This grew to crank pulleys, exhausts (he had his own for a while according to threads here) suspensions bits. I attended one in the Norfolk area in 2004 or so and folks came from DC and Baltimore to get bit put on their cars. If you use 'advanced search' and look for Randy Webb - I found 488 posts - you can glean information from those....

An old car of his sold on BaT,

I find it really neat looking back on all this stuff since I was so late to get hip to the R53 scene, always interested to poke around about the boomtime glory years.
But back on point of the how-to,
I'm an old dude so have paperbound books...
...which are great to have around in my opinion.
Add youtube videos in the mix and everything is covered.
