Interior/Exterior :: Add brake/turn lights to rear fog location

Just finished the install. Not hard at all. I got the Rear Lens Kit from OutMotoring and the Add a Brake kit from GoMiniGo. I think it makes the rear look more finished.

The parts:

Before: (its not really as dirty as it looks - its reflections - really)

With lights out:

All done:

The Rear Lens Kit from OutMotoring was $59 and the Add a Brake kit from GoMiniGo was $34 plus shipping on both.

As requested here is a shot with the lights on:

It does.

Its a very simple install. The fill plugs just snap out and the new lights snap back in. You will need to remove the tail lights, but even that is easy. Once you take the chrome surround off (just follow the instructions), there are some screws that hold the lights in. Run the new wires and put the lights back in place. The kit even comes with the wire connectors and bulbs for the new lights, so you will have everything you need for the install.

Looks great! If I had a R56, I'd do the same mod! Nice job!

Looks great. I wonder if something like this can be done on the Cooper (non-turbo).

It appears that there is a kit for the non-S as well:

http://gominigo.com/BLK-MINI.html

I think a brake light mounted in the center and that low might look a little strange, however (certainly not as nice as the S).

COKen,

When you ordered from gominigo.com did you place the number 2 in the quantity field so that you would get two wires, one for each of the fog lights or did place just the number 1 in quantity field and you receive 2 wires for each of the fog lights? Thanks.

Its been a while, but I think they come in sets, so you only need to order one set and you will get wires for both sides.

Is the title of this thread correct? Does it make them operate as turn lights in addition to brakes?

This will add additional running and stop lights to the rear of your Mini. They do not blink with the turn lights and they are not rear fog lights.

So the title is a little off.

How does your kit work with existing fog lights?

It's my understanding that both features cannot work at the same time so you would have to disconnect the fog light light feature to make the fogs work as brake lights...

Check with your supplier. The kits from GoMiniGo had a diode in the jumper that allowed both features to operate.

IN that case, YES, this will work. The line DOES have the diode to allow for this function.
