Major thanks to you SWJTX. Early last year I traded in my '11 Clubbie for a '14 that was on the lot that only had 7K (to get the last of the real Clubman) and I didn't realize that the lumbar in my '11 was an optional upgrade. It was a serious WTF? moment as every car I've the last 25 years had friggin lumbar included, even in my POS cars. Really a d**k move by BMW to not have it already in.
The one benefit of not having lumbar adjustment is that you sink a bit further into the backrest and so get more cornering grip up until your back complains.
Thanks for this thread! I'm in the market for MINI Cooper 4 door hardtop right now. There was a used one I liked but it had standard seats. I have back issues and after a test drive, I found even the standard seat to be a bit uncomfortable. Does anyone know if this lumbar modification works on a 2015 or 2016 standard seat (not just a sports seat)? I asked the dealer and they said it's a totally different frame....but I'm reluctant to believe that!
