1st Gen (02-04) are a pain in the ***. Lots of baking and prying, and the headlight housing will melt before the glue does. This means that you risk warping your headlights. Not worth it in my book... I got mine apart, ruined them, then had to get a new set of 05+ headlights.

I reused the silicon and have not had any issues with fogging. Just made sure the silicon was very hot when I reapplied it. Take the headlight out and heat up the area where the silicon is and apply a lot of pressure. When I did the mod I did that for about 15 min per light to make sure its sealed up.

I am tackling the Joey Mod, slowly, and anxiously. I had originally started out with the intention of simply painting the chrome headlight rings the Chili Red color of my MINI, but I realized I was so close to actually getting the lens covers off in the process that I started began considering the Joey Mod.
But I am not getting to the point....
Thank you so much for taking the time to post the Instructions. Very helpful, encouraging, and reassuring.
Simply, thank you.

I need a new xenon pass. side w/washer for my 03s. Does anyone know if its possible to purchase a halogen set and utilize my xenon ballast to convert them? Something like this. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mini-...Q5fAccessories
But with this look. http://www.bing.com/videos/watch/vid...VR5&FORM=LKVR1
Thanks in advance!

So I hit a deer cracked my light. Bought a used 02-04 Headlight assembly on nam for like $80. Took the lens off my cracked light. I bent some of the housing, as it bent when I was heating and prying. I plan on painting the plastic fascia after I remove the chrome with acetone, but it was a b**** getting it out, it is screwed in with torx but i managed to remove them with a small allen wrench. The reason I am removing everything is to remove the ignitor, as the used one was going bad. Then I tried to remove the reflector for the xenon and high beams, you need to remove the adjustment screws and the auto adjusting arm off. So tomorrow I will Start on removing the lens from the used headlight assembly, I will try to use less heat and have more patients..

helpppp plz
I removed the electrical, 2 torx screws, and 3 nuts. I detached something else that was connected to the bonnet to the light and liquid (which I hope is just water) is coming out of the line. I cant see this part in anyones pictures. It seems as if it should slide straight out of the light but i dont want to break anything. I know I need to take it directly off the light, but not quite sure how. Anyone know what I am talking about?
EDIT: Its the little chrome piece on the ring and the thing connected to it.
EDIT: Cheers, got it off, I am just hoping this liquid that is coming out is just water and not something that broke my lights....
EDIT: Ok finished everyone and they are on. I wish i wasnt such a newbie and got so many fingerprints on the inside of the lens and missed a few parts from spray painting... =( Oh well I will have to reopen them up. It was super easy opening them up with a Hair Dryer. Pretty simple putting it back together. I just lined them up, put them on top of each other and then turned the heat on and pressed them down. Bingo.
