AHA! Mine does not have marks, that I can see, but I will pour in 4.5 qts of something very dark, still have some old oil awaiting a trip to Advanced Auto, the container is an opaque material, and put my work light behind it and hopefully it'll show the level and then mark it with a Sharpie!
HA, problem solved!
Thanks!

Thanks to everyone on this thread. I used this thread when I made my first oil change more than four years ago and still come back to it once in a while.

I changed my oil today @ 64k miles and everything went smoothly. I was able to pick up a 5 quart jug of Mobil 1 0W-40 European Blend for $24.97 at our local Walmart. This is the first time I've been able to find this at Walmart, usually have to buy quarts which is much more expensive.

I watch for deals online for oil filters. Also change my oil every six thousand miles. I hope this helps keep your costs down, I know it's helping me!

Bumping a good thread. Just picked up our 09 MCS and doing all kinds of preventative maintenance, the car has almost 94k.

I'm having a heck of a time moving the coolant over flow out of the way without it leaking a coolant everywhere. Is there a good photo of the position it should go to? My car is a 2011 Clubman S (N18 engine).

Solution: Bought a suction thing and will remove the excess colant temporarily, remove the reservoir and finish the job that way.

I was able to maneuver the oil filter housing out by carefully lifting and adjusting the coolant reservoir to give enough space. The n18 appears to have less space but it's still manageable to get the filter out without and major twisting and removal of coolant reservoir. Good luck.

I ended up draining the extra reservoir and then taking out the u-clip to remove the right angle house connector. Gave me plenty of space. Later on my dad showed up with his 09 MCS and I took a look and the N18 design def has a MUCH shorter hose.

Of course once i figure that out i dropped the oil plug into the catch can! haha always an adventure. Unless i get a good deal on oil i will just let MOrristown Mini do the change for $69.99

Just completed my first oil change on my 13' fJCW. Took a couple hours. Getting to the filter was a pain lol. Only so much wiggle room for the reservoir. Multi angle 3/8 adapter is a must! Had to walk to the hardware store. :D
