Tech session should be at Bavarian Motor Experts (BME), but I have to talk to John as he is handling that. Will post the tech session details when I get them.

Yes, if all goes well the SCCA event will end in enough time to allow those to come over to BME for a tech inspection.

November is going to be a busy month is seems
You get to rest in December.

Actually, the date is correct as I confirmed with Voytek this afternoon. However, I'm still working with Alf and Adolph to finalize the time. It may start at 3 pm.

Just a few MINIs at the tech session today.
Only a few more open slots left for late sign ups.
The event will close at about 30-35 participants.
Be sure to sign up very soon if you want to join us.

The weather today at HRP was quite good. Overcast in the morning but mostly sunny for the afternoon. No rain or dizzles all day.
It was raining in Mililani when I left this morning.

Aloha 500 has come and gone and the weather held up for us this weekend! The highlight of today was the Advanced group with minihune and bgrpph. We were running the long track today and bgrpph and his MCS were eating up a Corvette Z06!!!! Coming out of the off-camber, bgrpph was hot on the heels of the Z06 through the turn and the sweeper. Actually, if he didn't brake, he would have been up the a$$ of the Vette! The only way the Vette held him off was in the front straight where he had 415hp v.s. the 208hp? of the MCS. The Z06 finally capitulated at the end of the second run session and waved him past!

I'm a little brain dead right now, but I know I have some pics of minihune and bgrpph strutting their stuff on the track. I'll post them up within a couple of days.

Many thanks to BMW-CCH, BMW of Honolulu, the instructors, the sponsors, the SCCA volunteers, and organizers of the Aloha 500. It was an excellent two day event and we lucked out with some very decent weather both days.

This year I was able to make more improvement (than in my last two Spring Flings) due to the great instruction from multiple teachers and from the two day format. Making mistakes early on was easy to do, but it gave me an appreciation of what not to do so that when I did do the right things it felt so much better- really neat.

Also with so much good track time, I'm getting a much better feel for HRP track. The cones set up on the second day really helped make things different at the end of the long straight and before turn one (hairpin).

We had four MINIs in attendance and I'm sure all had a really fun time.
It is very tiring to be out for two days. I had to take a nap

Would be great to see a classic mini next time. There was a BMW 2002 out there.

Beastmaster- Thanks for the pics- Wow it looks closer than it felt in the car. Thanks to Eric for frantically waiving the passing flag at the start/finish at the Vette as he pulled away on the straight. He let me pass as he said he'd look in his mirror & was sick of seeing that little blue thing!

Thanks to all the BMW club officers, members, volunteer instructors & SCCA flag workers who made the Aloha 500 happen. Personally i had five great instructors and learned something from each of them both days. I felt totally comfortable with the long course at days end on Saturday.
Look forward to Spring Fling and hope we can get more MINIs out for that event.

Thanks for the pics Beastmaster.

bgrpph,
Your MCS got "super glued" to the butt of that corvette!
Awesome.

JCIP,
Thanks for the many tips, advice and for the "fun time".

Eric808,
Mucho thanks for waving the flags and for working the course for both days. I like the checkered one. Hey, no black flags for me. My street tires even survived, in fact they worked pretty good, even when it drizzled a bit.

I'm really glad that the heavy rains we got pounded with today didn't happen on friday and saturday. I was getting flooded in MINIlani but it has finally passed now so I can let my MCS out to play tomorrow.

You two were so awesome. Not only were you two visually impressive (speedwise), the audio effects were really something. I spoke with Ryan (LY/B JCW) here and there & he was a happy camper and the JB/W S (I didn't see/meet him as he did Friday morning's clinic) appeared to have thoroughly enjoyed himself ...as I could see his eyes through his windshield as he'd pass by:smile:. I learned a lot from working. Also discovered that working has its moments of fulfillment and fun.

FYI. This is the 2nd time at our DE's that a mighty V8 Corvette has been lapped by a little 4 banger! The first time was at Spring Fling '03 when a 330hp LT1 Vette got lapped many times by a 120hp 318ic!

SCCA did a mighty fine job on both days. I only wish I got to see the ROADKILL flag!
