Does anyone have an alignment place they can recommend? I called Island Brake & Alignment today and was told they are booked until next week - I was hoping to take my car in today or tomorrow. :???: Thank you ahead of time for your help.

i go to Pac Auto on Queen Street (596-7732). they're probably full, too, but you can give them a call. the price will be roughly between $80-$125 i think.

Both places are good but are busy.

I have done alignment at Island brake and alignment and asked them if I could leave the car all day so it could be done as time was available. It was an easy front two wheel alignment only so that was fast and they got it done within about 4-5 hours.

Think about how much rear negative camber you want to ask for so that once you have the control arms installed they can do adjustments.

You can also ask them to put you on a wait list in case someone cancels an appointment. They may be short staffed due to summer vacations but usually there are quite a few mechanics there to do the work. They do full brake and suspension installs as well.

Some people aso go to Lex Brodies in your neck of the woods. I haven't tried them, but others like them as you don't have to drive into town. LB's may be pricey, though. If in town, Pacific Automotive is the way to go.

pac auto and island brake specialize in aligning modded/dropped cars.

i took my mcs once to lex brodie to get alignment and actually found that their service was excellent -- they were fast and the staff was very friendly and called me to give me updates as to the status of my car! i was very impressed.

just recently got my mini re-aligned at island brake and alignment...i hafta say that one good thing about them is that i can go across kamehameha hwy. and grind some manapua and dim sum at chun wah kam.

i had to wait 2 weeks as i couldn't make a weekday appt. and they said that they were actually short-staffed on the weekends and therefore couldn't open up on saturdays until last weekend. they are definitely booming with no shortage of customers.

Update

DaKineMini mentioned he went to Lex Brodie's to get an alignment after installing H-sport control arms in the rear. They had a hard time and took extra long and still didn't get it exactly right to within factory specs.
He didn't get the final spec sheet (was supposed to be faxed)

Probably best to stick to the alignment specialty shops as mentioned before.
Worth the wait.

not to bash lex brodie's, but personally i'd stick with what's been proven to work in the past. plus more than a few of my patients who are in the auto repair business have had good things to say about island brake and alignment.

i'm also guessing that if they are indeed that busy, they must be that good.

pac auto and island brake are definitely the island favorites for cars with lowering springs/coilovers.

sorry that dakinemini had a bad experience at lex brodie. when i took my mcs there, i was also desperate for an alignment (as pac auto was full!) and was pleasantly surprised with their service. i went to the queen street location.
