whoa! did you say you went across the island at 6am? that's what i shoulda done today. i stopped by at ~3pm, and unfortunately it was sold out. only thing left was the original sweet potato haupia pie and lilikoi chiffon. i was so disappointed after thinking about it all day.

i think i'm gonna try to get one on the way into work tomorrow. guarantee i should be able to score one. as long as i'm not late for work.

Keiki and everyone--Don't miss upcoming Miss Saigon at Richardson. I run the Army Community Theatre website (http://www.squareone.org/ACT) and I saw a runthrough of act one last week and the cast and direction is sensational. Also Tom Giza's sets. The lighting guy has a yellow/white MINI!!

Opens Feb. 24th. I want to see lots of MINIs in the parking lot.

Kyle,

They sell Ami's Chocolate Haupia Pie at Costco (at the least the Waipio one has it).

yes, they do. but beware, it is not the same as the one they sell at ani's itself!

it's $15 at ani's, and this is the one you want to be getting, i assure you. the basic difference is the crust. it's simply the best crust ever, with lots of nuts.

at costco, i believe it's like $10. i know alot of people think that the costco one is the same as the one at ani's, but believe me, it's not even close.

i even asked the saleslady about why they don't sell the better one at costco. supposedly, the key is the crust in the better pie simply won't last that long. i assume the freshness is key. maybe kinda sorta like those glazed crispy creme donuts that are simply the best straight outa the oven, but simply ordinary when cold.

if you have time and are in the halawa valley area, you will not be disappointed to p/u one. even the sweet potato haupia pie is out-of-this-world. just take the first left at the panasonic building, and ani's is on the right a few driveways up where all the ani's delivery trucks sit.

Now I understand. Makes sense too. Sorry for the confusion man.

I was out in the Windward side picking up a set of 19s for my car and decided to head out to Kaneohe. I headed out to Pahke's this evening to try out their sumptuous desserts, but there was no chocolate decadence cake! The only thing that was suitable for takeout was a coconut manapua cake. It was alright, but not fantastic. So where was that chocolate cake?

maybe there were outta the gold flakes toppings.

my top two...the almond float thing and, believe it or not, the green tea ice cream. dave's green tea has nothing on raymond's secret recipe. it's the creamiest green tea you'll ever taste. and yes, you can get those to go. but it does sell out, as beastmaster found out.

Did you ask for the Chocolate Decadence? It was not on the menu when we stopped by and Raymond told us about it.

with raymond, it's pretty much "ask and you shall receive". he does all kinds of stuff that's not on the menu. he'll also cook anything you bring in, ie. fish, meat, etc.

this past holidays he even custom made some rum cakes for my boss to hand out to our business associates instead of the usual x-mas baskets.

remember, he was the former dessert chef at halekulani.
