Assagios is good when I have gone.

What about Ruby Tuesdays in MINIlani? The line was too long one saturday night (2 hour wait!) so I went to Assagios and got seated in 15 minutes.

This weekend I tried Longhis at Ala Moana- great view even when raining, OK to good food-depends what you order, moderate to high prices.

Sounds like Pahke's is so good we can do a MINI meet and drive over there for a snack or meal. kbseto lead the way.

awwww, jimbo858....no need be rich to go to Assagios! It's pretty affordable. Rainbows is good, though. As my sig shows, I spend a lot of time in that area of Oahu. I especially like the fact that the cute surfer boys feel that they "don't gotta get dressed up" to go! mmmmm, me like da loco moco!

Jimbo - I can barely afford to keep a MINI running properly, so I'm not rich either. I love eating at Rainbows, too. Boneless chicken plate, chili plate, bbq plate are all yummy! The slushes are good, especially the slush floats! I've never had their loco moco.

Ruby Tuesdays is quite good - - - always has long lines. If you go at peak dinner time wait is 40-60 minutes to get in, so go early. Food type (and cost) like Chili's or Fridays, but if you like meats, much much more tender. You can take a fork and slip meat off the ribs. Salad bar not quite as extensive as some places but ok. Try the "Blondie" for dessert.

Also JP's Spaghetti in Wahiawa. Former Assagio's cook runs it. Food just like Assagios but way cheaper.

hey nobias99, that was my secret spot in wahiawa whenever i was craving inexpensive italian without having to dress up. shhhh, i betcha no one still knows exactly where in wahiawa it is.

last weekend i was cruising by koko marina and saw they had teddy's bigger burger opened up in the old mc d's spot. they must have one of the best burger's in the islands. the only other place that can compare is maybe kua aina. or possibly w & m.

today i had a quick bite to eat at my fave cheap eats place in wahiawa, sunnyside. my friend ordered ahead of time for me a deluxe hamburger and a slice of apple pie. in and out in <15min and costs < $3, according to my friend. usually, i get the chicken cutlet or hamburger steak for $5. anyways, my point i was leading up to was that the cheapest, best hamburger has gotta be sunnyside or shige's, both in wahiawa.

btw, did i already tell you guys that the owner of assagio's bought my first mini? but the reason you guys don't see it around is that she shipped it to thailand for her brother. anyways, she did tell me to stop by and she'd treat me to lunch. but i never did stop by yet.

yes, it certainly does get around. i'm just hoping that it doesn't end up in the hands of one of those infamous thai switcheroonie characters. i think it'd make my mini confused.

Jess and I saw "Grease" last night (Frankie Avalon was outstanding as ever/always). When we see musicals/plays, we've started a tradition in going to...

T.G.I. Friday's

They're now my all-around fave restaurant. They have my #1 meal in:

*Baby Back Ribs
*(w/ their fries and BBQ sauce)
*Diet Coke

We see "Twentieth Century" (Diamond Head Theatre) come February. Can't wait till then

OMG!!! My friends and I used to have a tradition too. We'd go to Jose's (near Shiro's in Kaimuki) before Diamond Head Theatre...TGIF's before we'd go to the Symphony...and Verbano before we'd go to Richardson Theatre. Up until recently I was a season ticker holder for all. I LOVE performing arts!!!!

Momotarou in Kaimuki has my vote. Just got back from New Years day dinner w/friends.

Excellent sahimi platter, scallops to die for, and lot's of other choices.

You can purchase beer and sake on site OR BYOB. They will even heat your sake for you!

Young gal named Sherry works there. Real sweet with a great personality and excellent service.

Try it, you won't be dissapointed!

Aloha!

Cool, Keiki!! Another plus from Thursday night: We find ourselves on Ward Ave. at 5:31 p.m. ...which is absolute perfect timing for parking on the street there [Parking during the work week opens up at precisely 5:30 p.m.]

Got Apple pie?

Beware of the apple pie alamode at Big City!
Damn thing will feed six!
Atkins? We don't need no stinkin Atkins!
My favorite is Murphy's on Bethel St.
A few Imperial size Guinnes, corned beef 'n' cabage.
Save room for the apple cobler!
And another pint!
Bring some one who can drive the Mini home, & put up w/ a fat, dumb & happy, drunk!

Another jewel is Cafe Laufer.
Skip Big City on Waialai and go there.
Coffee and pasteries, also sandwiches on fresh bread.
The special of the day will be good no mater what it is.
The Chef/ owner is trained in Austria I think.
I've been going there for 3+ years always good!

OMG, I lOVE Muphy's. I used to work one block down so I would frequent Murphy's after work. Here's a picture of my friend Ginnie and I on Halloween 2 years ago. We were dressed as the Guinness Brewmasters (before the commercials even made it to the US). We even performed the "sliced bread" commecial for the staff. Funny how I look Mexican! Good times!

I am visiting Oahu and thought I would try a few of the places that have been mentioned in this post.

Best Burger: Teddys with Kua Aina a close second.

We sampled PAH KE'S for dessert and I must say the Chocolate Decadence is one of the best I have ever had. Tomorrow I will try Ani's Chocolate Haupia pie. Looks like a diet is in store when we return home.

Ice Cream: Coco Macnut or Chocolate Sin at the ice cream shop in Haleiwa across from Kua Aina.

Just the opinions of a Georgia boy.

Aloha

chocolate decadence? is that's what's in the pic? i haven't seen that one before? has raymond been busy stirring up some new desserts? btw, are you supposed to eat those gold flakes or save'em up?

wow, i think you pretty much hit the highlights. and saved the best for last...i'm telling you that chocolate haupia pie is unbelievable. ted's, which everyone knows of, is nothing compared to ani's. expensive at $15, but it is worth probably $20+. and how in the world did you find pahke's? i only found it cause i worked at the building next door, and boy did i score.

i agree too that kua aina's is good stuff, but i still pick tedddy's first for burgers.

i'm sure georgia's got its own share of onolicious pies too.

The gold flakes went down with the chocolate. It sure was good.

We are staying in Kailula and just hopped on the Kam Highway and drove until we found Pah ke's. Thanks to the fellow NAM member who pointed this place out.

I just got back from an early am run to Ani's to get the Chocolate pie. Full report later.

Now off to the beach to catch the sunrise.

That must be the best chocolate cream pie I have ever had! It was well worth the trip across the island at 6am.
