And we're up! Comments?

BMWCCAHawaii.com

It took too long for other people to work on it so I did it myself! Anyone want to help me in spicing up the pages?

Stay tuned for upcoming events!

Very good. I like the blue tones.
Logical layout.
Easy to read text.
Easy to return to homepage.
Has good dates of important events and meetings.
Pictures always are good. Links to larger pictures work fine.
Next step- articles? Got any archived from the monthly publication? That would be the first place to look.
Overall excellent and thanks for putting it all up.
300 members? good thing they all don't turn out for the events!!!
It's pretty amazing that only about 5-10% of the members are active enough or have no conflicts to be able to take advantage of all you are offering. Well done.

Articles? We don't need no stinkin' articles! No need for a, an, the... j/k Actually, I would like to put the newsletter online as a PDF file. I just have to figure out how to do that.

5 - 10% participation in club events is typical of BMW CCA chapters.

5-10% participation is typical of most social clubs. That's about what we have for our local Mensa group.

there are so many bumps to the hawaii section threads that my troubling MINI/BMW dealership threads keep getting buried.

just checked out the site. surprised that it's all up-to-date and stuff. i didn't know that you aren't the president anymore. were you impeached?

are you still the webmaster and newsletter person? if so, i'd like to post my mps for sale concurrently with the other avenues i am pursuing...it's got a lot of problems and the service at the dealership is substandard but the car looks good from the outside (and who said not to judge a book by its cover)....and someone out there might be more "tolerant" of the issues at hand (as kevin keppel said to me in an earlier conversation) and not mind having a "new" car with lotsa warranty issues. i guess it's a good way to build rapport w/ the dealership.

Impeached? What are you talking about? I was a victim of term limits. I served my two terms as President and that was all she wrote, just like Bill Clinton. He served his two terms and it was time to retire. Wait! Maybe he's not a good example as he was almost impeached, wasn't he?

I'm the de-facto webmaster since I started BMWCCAHawaii.com, pay for it and no one else was willing to devote the time to maintaining the site. It's not fancy as I don't know html and all that jazz, but at least it is current.

As for Newsletter Editor, I held that position, but stepped down in the best interests of the club. It seems that a certain influential sponsor was VERY uncomfortable that I held that position and did not want to deal with me. I guess the sponsor felt threatened by my way of doing business and thought I would use the newsletter as a sounding board. I would not do such a thing as it would be abuse of power and VERY unprofessional. I do not let my personal feelings interfere with business or club activities. By staying in that position, I could have put continued sponsorship in danger, so I decided to step down.

C'est la vie!

If you want to place an ad for your car. PM me the information and I'll post it for you. All I ask is you inform the prospective buyer of the car's history as the board is for club members, and I do not want members to be harmed.

Bump? Don't bumps hurt? Nevermind.

I thought with the spring fling coming up and people joining BMW CCA, it would be good to remind others about the website resource.

Plus I want to thank Beastmaster for taking the time to do it and keep it up- Thank you.
Impeached!? More the opposite.

I would have liked to see Beastmaster stay on as president a bit longer but I am grateful for the time he did serve.
John our new president will hopefully carry on in a MINI friendly way as we are gaining presence in BMW CCA.

minihune - Thanks for the vote of confidence, but two years was long enough.

As for becoming a greater presence in BMWCCH, you guys are definitely making everyone take notice! That island drive we had last year had an equal amount of MINIs as BMWs! If the club is taking a turn that you don't like, you always have the ability to vocalize your concerns.

heh. interesting story. i think i know who the influential sponsor is .

perhaps i will place an ad for the car to see if there's anyone out there who doesn't mind purchasing a car with a lengthy problem history..and doesn't mind bringing it in for additional warranty issues that will more than likely pop up in the future. i would NEVER sell a car to someone w/o disclosing critical car history info...i wouldn't want them to turn around and sue me for lack of information.

I feel the same way about disclosure when selling my used cars. I tend to keep mine a very long time like 8 to 12 years on average and my repair records are very very long. But my old cars tend to do very very well and are much better than the average car of the same type out there. I never really had a "lemon" but I did have a few with many repeated assorted problems. I guess it all depends on definitions.

I will say that many other sellers are the exact opposite and do not know and do not care about repair records. They just want to make a buck. Several times my old car got sold lowball to a buyer that turned around and resold the car to another person within a few days and passed along zip information to the final buyer. Oh well.

The last couple of times I sold my (used) cars, I typed up a complete repair history before selling. Even though the cars weren't perfect, people were just thrilled at that whole honesty thing ... that was the best selling point! (Well, maybe my name helped too ... a little).
