>>Glad I could "plug in" as everyone was leaving Zippy's. Great group and well organizied, now if only more of the MINI's had comm's (radio's). Sorry I had to bug out after Maunawili but I did post some pictures on the Hawaii Gallery. I hope I can stick around for the whole deal next time.

Good to have you and hope you can join us for more fun in the future. After you left we did the reast of the windward side and up to kualoa park, had lunch, then up to Laie point then to Haleiwa and through central Oahu and back to town for the contest and ended at about 430pm. Lots of fun driving those curvy roads.

ghui,
Thanks for coming and I know you and Jessica like to drive your MCS. You were just as fast and nimble even though some of us (the works MINI, the red aero and me were moddled like crazy). Reason is we were not going that fast except the highway portions. At slower speeds under 50, stock cars MCS and MC are all good. Just drive them hard and they will respond. The modded cars do not need to be driven hard for them to do well. You're just seeing a fraction of what they can do.

I hope you can come out for more events and fun. It was nice meeting you and please do keep looking here on MCO for future things.

Wow, that's a great turnout......those MINI's look fabulous next to each other. What a wide array of colors, styles, accessories....but I guess that's the point, right?

That was unreal fun!! The_Beastmaster - job well done & thanks for the cards. keikilee - you've got a great kid there. minihune - you da man. ghui - super cool/ambitious family. Lazule - really like how you came up with your username. Sullivan'sDaddy - good talking story. keithy - nice to meet you two. HIpilot - dig your JCW. Total bummers that I had to detour at the Kahala Arco station (is it still Arco?) due to work. Now, when's the next one  ?!
*Big question here: Who took the respective Clean Car Contest categories ??

3rd M Coupe
Dirtiest? Lazule
The car wasn't that dirty, just not as clean as the others.

The loser (the dirtiest Mini) was the newest Mini of the bunch.
Judge for yourself!!!

Many thanks to all of you for a fantastic experience. I can honestly say that I REALLY drove my Mini for the first time. Plus I broke the "fear barrier" driving those Maunawili and Auloa Rd curves. I never would have taken them on so fast if I hadn't been in the pack. The Mini is a real thrill. And you're all a great bunch.

alohas - Lazule

PS. More thanks to everyone for all the advice on my bucking first gear problem and wax/cleaning tips. Maybe I won't win the dirtiest Mini award next time.

I think the MINIs would have put up more of a "fight" but we were ALL so tired after the long day that we changed the rules of the contest at the last moment. A suggestion was made to hold the contest "ala naturale" so no 30 minute or even 10 minute cleaning. Judged as is after the drive. Not sure if the judges were more lenient- or maybe they were tired too.

Anyway, I thought I would have the 30 minute period so I left "things" undone for that time and sadly it bit me in the butt for doing so. My fierce opponent who won (John) did his homework but you know, I think he keeps his car that clean ALL the time. And it isn't exactly new but it looks really new. And for all those that really want to see some mods next time check out his rear wheels Custom 19x10 275/35-19 and under the hood there is a carbon fiber engine cover about 2 feet long with DINAN spelled out in a lighter shade of carbon fiber. And yes, You can do surgery in his engine bay it was that clean.

So at the next contest I will be on my guard and try to do better. By the way Keithy's red aero MCS was also excellent and I thought it looked great and I know he always keeps his car perfect.

Lazule- you're learning quickly, your driving was great, I was behind you and cruising hard in the turns. You did well. Dirtiest car? At least you won! Clean is a relative term. Your MINI is only a few months old. Great to have you and hope you can make it to more events.

If you look at the pictures you see that the EB MCS is quite clean so you know the contest was fierce.
Grrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the pictures. Great to see all those MINIs and it is so colorful that a tourist stopped to snap a few just as we were leaving that Diamond Head lookout area. Then we hit the lowlight of the day- following those SLOW Roberts tour buses through Kahala. I was tempted to take a severe detour and get ahead of them so we could make it out to the highway. Our leader was very patient- it turned into a parade of sorts.

Yes a very nice Red Porsche 911targa Turbo. Great car. 1:18 scale RC to be exact.

minihune did represent the MINIs very well and did them proud! Lazule's car wasn't that dirty, but the other owners were fanatics. John's gf told me that his winning the CCC will only enforce his maniacal cleaning of his M Coupe! I swear he keeps that car in a hermetically sealed cocoon and has some sort of force field generator to keep dust away from the car. It was very interesting that the first 2 spots went to people that work for the same organization. It must be that medical environment that enforces the clean thinking! Next time, only 1 event per day. All of us were waaaay too tired to put in 30 minutes of cleaning.

As for our island drives, we try to keep it safe, orderly and fun. However, incidents can happen when youthful exhuberance kicks in. This is the result of a run in CA. http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/sh...hreadid=137540
Let's keep it safe out there!

Thanks for the cheer! Actually I knew when I looked at the competition that I was at the bottom of the list. In fact I was secretly hoping for a loser award! And it came true!!!

Had no idea you were behind me.... and am glad to know I was doing OK. Actually, all I could think of was how much I was braking and thinking that the pro driver behind me must be tearing his/her hair out.... and then I started downshifting and the fun began.
