HAWAII ** ALTA PULLEY GROUP BUY **
Ok- we are going to need a few more MCS owners that want a pulley upgrade to make all of this work.
So if you are serious then let us know that you are. right now it looks like a date in January 2004 or later.
This offer includes outer islands- we can make it happen for you too.

Update-
We are still below 10 so we need more MCS owners to sign up for pulley installs if this is going to work-

... just created a yahoo group called 808-motoring. i'm hoping that we can use it to build a hawaii MINI database and pulley install sign-up and/or post events, wanted/for sale ads, group buys, questions/answers, and anything else MINI-related.
i've sent invites to those mco members whom i have email for....if you'd like to join, please send me a PM or email minigroupbuys@hotmail.com.
you will need to have a yahoo i.d. to join the group but you can have messages sent to any preferred email address.
please feel free to invite your fellow MINI owners/enthusiasts who aren't yet on MCO or a part of the 808motoring yahoo group. i will be making small cards to invite other MINIs that we find parked on the street, etc. stay tuned. if anyone would like to help with this, please let me know.
aloha,

Here is the update as of today.
If we get enough people together for a pulley party then we will invite Eric Savage from Helix13 in Philly to come to Hawaii on Jan 10 for a few days to do installs and maybe bring along the GIAC for the MCS and if it is ready for the MC. Eric usually installs the Helix 15% reduction pulley.
He can also bring in short shifters and do the installs and if anyone wants he can give us a package deal on Borla Sport (the good loud one) exhausts for the MCS. We would have to arrange for shipping ahead of time and do the installs (about 90 minutes since we have no lift). If you need details then PM me for prices.
For MC owners he can do intake installs but he mostly sells K&N typhoon filters. His shop carries Helix Cat-back exhausts for the MC and he can do the installs but again the exhaust needs to be pre-ordered and shipped to Hawaii early.
If you have any other requests let me know.
We really need at least 10 MCS owners that want a pulley installed and we are only at about 6!
I'll give you a few more weeks but then that is it.

>>Nothing against Chris - but I thought Randy was willing if we have 10? Any update?
I did not talk to Chris at Helix. I have talked to Eric Savage who gave me a date to work with and would do the installs for a competitive price and not charge us for airfaire if we could get numbers together. If we had Randy come out then we would have to compete with the other areas all over the country for booking dates-he now has about 5+ dates already scheduled through Jan. 04. By January, Eric will have done about 100+ pulley installs.
If by switching to Randy you think there is more interest then try to get some names of those who would do it and PM me. But from talking to people in person and PM nearly all MCS owners that are on MCO as members there is little interest if any to do any pulley upgrade. A few have already done the upgrade.
And as of today I am no closer to 10. Only about 6 so far. Are you interested?
Also you should be sure to log into the 808-motoring group on yahoo.com for updates.

I still need more MCS owners to sign up.
There have been some interesting developments
Go see the update on 808-motoring for the details and prices.
Still need a bunch more but got some inquires.

I've tried to contact all MCS owners I know of by email or PM.
None of the MC owners are interested in mods at our party.
So far there are only 5 confirmed pulleys and one more on the big island.
1 or 2 ECU upgrade only for GIAC if it is available.
I need more numbers if this is going to work, if not we will reschedule for a later date when there is more interest.

Last call for any MCS owners interested in our Pulley party upgrade for January 2004.
Earlier we were working with Jan 10th and Jan 17th was the back up date. Eric Savage from HELIX13 was going to come out to Hawaii from Philadelphia with his wife.
In order to get 10 owners interested in the pulley upgrade for the MCS I think we will have to work with the Jan 17th date or go later in 2004. We do need a site to do the pulley upgrades- one Saturday/Sunday from 8am to 5pm over those two days. Will be making appointment schedule for each day.
Right now we have 9 pulleys for Oahu and one for the big island. Installed price is $400 and you have a choice of 15%, 17%, or 19% pulleys.
IF GIAC ECU upgrade is ready in January then maybe as many as 9 ECU upgrades for under $500.
Stay tuned for a GIAC review soon on NAM by HELIX13.
For more details go to the 808-motoring group on Yahoo.com for Hawaii MC and MCS owners.
Drop me a personal mail on NAM if you are interested or email to Minihune2000@yahoo.com
Thanks all. I'm calling Eric Savage tomorrow morning.
This is some info on pulleys that HELIX13 posted:
"Helix now offers many sizes of pulleys, in both clamp on and press fit styles starting (complete) at $100. If you are still a pulley virgin, and want to take the plunge, or if you already have a hub on your shaft (so to speak), we can provide you with the latest pulley technology. We offer 17% and 19% pulleys for those who already have the hub on their car for $80. For more info, see our website at http://www.helix13.com or give us a call at 215 739 8800. "

OK, I talked to Eric from Helix13 this morning and we are trying to check travel arrangements for a January 17 date. More on that later.
Installs for the pulley to be done that weekend mostly on Saturday and what remains on Sunday each two hours apart by appointment. We need a garage with a flat concrete floor, good lighting, a jack and 4 jack stands. I have an aluminum racing jack and two aluminum stands and I know that The_Beastmaster has a similar jack and stands. Anyone else? Please let me know if you have a site that would be available for Sat/sunday.
We are planning for the GIAC ECU upgrade to be available by that date (review is pending once more work is done on 12/17/03). We have about 9 GIAC installs including some owners of JCW kits that expressed interest in an ECU upgrade. Price to be determined by GIAC but supposed to be under $500.
The pulleys can be either bolt on "alta" style or press on (heat up) style in 15%, 17% and 19% size reduction.
Any size or style, part and installation for $400 paid by check or cash. If you require a specific style pulley and size please let me know. For most of us we will be using the easy bolt on 15% pulley upgrade. Helix13 is very confident about the safety and reliability of using the 17% pulley as well.
As of today, we stand at 9 pulleys for Oahu and 1 for the Big Island. We will have to fly Eric out to the Big Island to do that one install-working on arrangements currently. Short shifters are also available-let me know if interested.
Install time of the GIAC is about 20-30 minutes each and can be done concurrently with the pulley installs.
Contact me if you know anyone else in Hawaii interested in joining us.
