Italian Job Premiere at Paramount Studios
Wow!
Take a thousand Minis and put them all on Melrose Avenue heading east and you have
1) a traffic jam;
2) a real Mini fest;
3) news choppers flying overhead and all networks and entertainment show trucks jockeying for postion;
4) Astouded drivers going the other direction who were waving, grinning and shouting questions and blowing horns;
5) Restaurant goers on our side of the street grinning and giving us thumbs up.
The film was projected as I surmised: on the old cyclorama with the cars parked in the old tank. The sound was broadcast on an FM station. There were tons of classic minis including a Mini limo
and three original Woodies. The food was In 'n Out cheeseburgers (a popular L.A. drive thru), fresh popcorn and solf drinks (perfect drive-in food).
I won't critique the movie, but everyone honked at any Mini or MINI appearance (yeah, there's an old one in the film too). Good fun and thanks, Paramount!
Back home tomorrow.

Thanks for the play by play-
Sounds like an event to remember.
Obviously not a great true movie experience for the sake of the movie itself but like Rocky Horror Picture show- I'm sure it was the ambiance that made the day.
Only in LA should be the motto

The Director was there...
If you saw him he would have signed it.
There were Celebrities...
James Garner was there, Seth Green and Mos Def. They were in a special location.

Many Thanks, to Paramount, MINI USA, and anybody else responsible for a fun evening! Drove in the Gate onto a Red Carpet! - and parked on the lot where Brooksie's namesake, Louise Brooks, once walked. Met the usual suspects, and some new ones, and had a hard time finding my car in the dark! - there were too many cars that looked the same - first time for everything I guess. In-nOut food and a drive-in - how do miss with that? The movie is one you'll all have to see, and I won't comment on it until it's released, but the MINIs had a LOT of screen time. It was a blast!
