Best Differential Option
Best Differential Option
I have a number of track days lined up in the spring and I am looking at differential options for my GP2. I am familiar with Quaife and Wavetrac but also came across OS Giken. Anyone have experience with these units? OS Giken is more expensive just curious if it really does provide superior performance over the others.
Those three differentials are all different styles. The Quaife is a purely mechanical Torsenn style, and will probably be the smoothest when transferring power around, but will be limited when one wheel loses all tranction. (such as when off the ground). The Wavetrac steps up one over the Quaife by using locking rings, such that when on wheel loses traction, it send all power to the wheel with grip. The OSG uses friction rings, and from what I understand, is sensitive to fluid selection and maintenance. The OSG can also be tuned to perform however you like, but would require transmission removal and rebuilding to make changes. The OSG can also take a lot of abuse.
If you want to install and forget the diff, get the Quaife. If you want serious competitive advantage, get the OSG. (I would get the Quaife)
