Project for a crashed GP2
Bought a GP2 with front end collision, thought it's not a big deal to fix it. However after taking the front end out, noticed the bellhousing was knocked a hole by the crushed turbo auxiliary water pump & wastegate actuator mounting points on the quick spool valve (I guess that is how it called) are broken. It turned out to be a more complex and time consuming project.
The car will be used for short work commute & moderate trackday. The budget is limited, but all works will be done by myself except the painting. Since I will take the transmission out, I'd rather upgrade necessary components together. I need some advice from you on which performance parts should I put in the car?
Below is my thought and I will keep updating the list. Any comment on my thought or new idea will be greatly appreciated!
- Bushing: Torque Solution Lower Engine Mount.
- Intercooler: Kept the OEM
- LSD Diff: Quaife.
- Clutch: OS Giken STR
- small upgrades
*PLM catless downpipe
*wheel studs
*ecstuning ss brake line
*transmission temp & boost gauges
THANKS to

Good to see you saving a GP2 from the crusher. I have a GP2 and love it so can't wait to hear what you think when it's together. I've also rebuilt many wrecked MINIs over the years.
For sure you will want some powerflex front control arm bushings and easy swap while you have the subframe out for the trans.
See if they can weld the trans. Not just anyone can as these are very porous material, but have done it a time or two.
For intercooler I have the Forge IC on mine and recommend it.

Finally received the clutch in early Feb, then found out the kit doesn't come with the flywheel bolts. From other people's thread, it seems the OEM bolts have to be shortened, but confirmed with OG, the thickness of the flywheel that connects to the engine is redesigned to match the OEM's. Ordered new flywheel bolts, but due to the shipping issue, bolts came in the last week of Feb...
installation is straight forward. torque it 6 ft-lb-->22 ft-lb-->90 degree
use engine crane to put it back on
body parts are ready :D
