Time for a new GP2 clutch?
Time for a new GP2 clutch?
I have about 44K miles on the car, it's my daily driver but I don't drive it all that much. Just noticed today that the "uptake" on the pedal engagement seems off so I figured I'd start asking around for opinions on replacing the clutch on this model.
I'll get quotes from Mini dealer and reputable independent shop but is there anything I should be looking out for?
I don't track the car so no need for super-beefy clutch upgrade.

Stock clutch will have the stock feel and easiest to daily street drive

We've also had customers use the Clutchmaster kits and like them

And even more performance, not as smooth, but will hold the power

Then if you want to go all out performance the Giken is the one, but locks up so have to be ready for it

Thanks Way and I heard back from the dealer- "It'll be between $3-4K because we recommend replacing the RMS and flywheel. And we'll need it for a day and a half.) I darned neared fainted! In your opinion (I know you can't verify because the car's not opened up in front of you) but does that seem reasonable at 44K miles and light use?
Also heard back from an independent and his response was about $1.5K in parts and $1K in labor- full day. Another independent quoted $2.1K for just the clutch and $3.2k for clutch & flywheel.
So my question is, what are the visible indicators for replacing a flywheel? And is it "normal" to replace one at around 44k miles?
