As for the Audi/BMW thing. I couldn't disagree more. Although I was referring more to the build, I don't agree about the drivability issue you talk about. There are plenty of cars that come AWD, like the Audi (think 911 Turbo, Lamborghini Gallardo) that are PLENTY fun to drive. Oh and the car you mention, the A8, is not exactly the car to compare to an M5. Please remember that I have had BOTH and currently have BOTH. With the TT, we wanted the 2.0 Turbo engine since more can be brought out of it. Quattro is unfortunately not available for that engine yet. Even at that, the car is very fun to drive.
But again, as for the build quality, it's not even CLOSE. I think BMW is living on a reputation they built in the past. Even friends of mine who have the BMW also think the quality leaves a lot to be desired. I wash my cars myself and know them inside and out. I know very inch of those cars and welcome you to come over any day and I will point out all the spots in that car where BMW cut corners. It's a shame too because the car is gorgeous and yes it IS a blast to drive. It's very fast and handles great, but it's just a shame to spend that much money on a car and not have a better built, better finished and better appointed car........not to mention a car that doesn't rattle after 7k miles. Please don't get me wrong. I love my M-coupe. At least the way it looks and drives. Look at it this way. It's kind of like having a really hot girlfriend who's great in the sack, but is dumb as a box of rocks and as shallow as a puddle. It's just a shame that it's not a total package.
I have a friend who owns his own racing shop, is a track driving instructor, experiences many different cars on the track, and he feels much the same as you about Audi vs. BMW. He could afford to have any car he wants, but he has just replaced the "family car", an older Audi S4 Avant, with a new Audi S4 Avant. His wife does have a BMW (a Z8) but his opinion of it is much the same as yours is about your M-coupe. He acknowledges the understeer issues of the Audi, but still loves the quality and performance it provides in a station wagon package with a manual transmission. He even caused quite a stir a while back when he took his Audi and four other instructors out on Texas World Speedway's road course and proceeded to outrun every Porsche, NSX, and Ferrari in the advanced driver's group. However, it didn't hurt that he's a top ranked spec Miata racer and there was a light rain falling at the time.

Personally, I think it's cool that some cars still have "personality" that causes some to like them and some to dislike them. Much better than the generic automotive/truck appliances that don't evoke any passion at all.

Hey gusmiami,

Is that the Griot's compessed air hose reel? How do you like it? Does it work good? I need to pick one up, but I don't want to pay the $200 some places want.

No I bought that at Home Depot. I don't think it was any more than $65 or so. It's self winding and works great . The only thing is that it's made to go bolted to the ground. So I had to take it apart to turn the spool over so that the hose receiver would be on the top and not the bottom (took like 5 minutes). That was easy though.....and worth it.

I love the story of the 4 instructors in that car.....good stuff. I've had 2 S4's, so I can relate to that.
Like I said, I love my M-Coupe, but it SHOULD be a better all around car (fit / finish / performance). Better fit and finish should come included in the price. A leather dash, better ***** on the radio, etc, etc won't make the car perform any less and won't add weight. The Audi pulls that off nicely.

I absolutely love the Fj cruiser. it's a great car. I got the 6 speed manual and it rides/drives great. I use it pretty much every day.
I put the US flag just because the way it looked.......no other reason really.

I don't remember what the window sticker said, but as far as I know they're built in Hamura, Japan.

Ohhh, turns out they are built in japan and only sold in america. Kind of neat.

The FJ Cruiser is only sold in North America. The FJ cruiser was not originally intended for production but due to enormous consumer response about the car following the North American International Auto Show, production eventually began in early 2006. All FJ Cruisers are built by Hino Motors in Hamura, Japan.

Gus, once again, nice setup you have there. I hope to do something with mine this Summer (at least the flooring).

Wow. What's in the parking spot next to the Prowler?

Thanks. We actually have a new addition to the stable. Although I love the styling of the M-Coupe, I'm not crazy about the rest of the car. So anyway, we went to the dealer and traded the new TT for this:

^ Sweet man. I see you brought from The Collection in Coral Gables. Did you go up to their garage? What other toys do they have up there?

They have a little bit of everything up there. Probably the most notable thing I saw was an Aston MArtin motor that was obviously just shipped there. It was still on the base of the crate it was shipped on. Pretty cool.
