Well, I would say they're functional to a point. You really can't hose down the garage since water WILL get in between the cracks of the tiles. If you drop some water, it won't be the end of the world, but you won't want too much water down there since there won't be much ventilation for it to dry out very quickly. I simply clean with a damp mop/towel and that works just fine.
most flooring like this is raised and has the ability to drain water away underneath. If your garage is graded properly and the tile doesn't sit flush on the concrete, you can hose off as much as you want. In fact, any tile that doesn't do this shouldn't be used on concrete.
here's a piece of Daytona flooring. I've got some samples in the garage - I can snap pics of the underside to show the 'pillar' supports that allow water to flow easily below it.
Could you please compare the GP vs. the Z4 Mcoupe regarding performance, driving dynamics and daily driving characteristics?
I used to own a 2001 Z3 M Coupe, and indeed it was a special car.
Thanks,
Jim
GP 1491
The M-Coupe is definitely a beast compared to the Mini-GP. It's faster yet the mini feels much more nimble. I guess if I had to sum things up I would say that the Mini is not as serious as the M-coupe....it's a different, more playful kind of fun (if that makes sense). The GP has much more "personality" than the M-coupe. I love driving both but I guess it just depends on what mood I'm in.
Oh well, I am married anyway- Glad to hear that you are in good hands with a girl who knows her place in the world...
I don't know if you come to TATE sometimes (or was just for the GP) but if you guys do, we should get together and the 4 of us go for some fun driving.
I was in Annapolis just to buy the GP, but I loved it there. It's definitely a place we marked on our list of places to go. I'll look you up when we do
How do you like the checkered flooring? Is it easy to keep clean? I'm planning an intensive garage renovation and trying to decide between something like this versus an expoxy type flooring finish. Consider that one car in the garage will be a daily driver in a winter climate which includes snow, etc.
Thanks in advance for any comments - your garage looks excellent
It is fairly easy to maintain. You can't hose it down but you can mop it with no problem. whenever I bring in a car that is wet or dirty, I can usually just tag a rag with some de-greaser to it and it works fine. It's also nice that you can take it apart if you need to.

I personally wouldn't do that because even though it will drain, it still won't have enought ventilation to air out quickly enough. I just don't see how it would not have some mildew build up if you did dump water on it or hose it down.

it's a floating floor - t's not sealed. We've spilled oil, brake fluid, etc. Soak it up with rags....put a bit of soap down, scrub it, pressure wash the whole floor, and squeegee it dry. Pull up the floor a day later to check and it's dry as a bone underneath. By design.
Awsome Garage, but where are your tools, bicycles, xmas decorations, gardening shovels, trash cans, etc. I would love to redo mine someday but I have so much stuff.

Well, my tools are in the cabinets you see in the picture below.....
Whatever isn't there is in my shed. Trash cans are on the side of the house.
As I have been so busy tending to my garage, the inside of my house has suffered a bit ......take a look........Hahaha....just kidding.
Beautiful garage!!! Noticed the extra GP rims, are they hard to come by? And totally jealous of the Z4 M. I origially was lookin at a base Z4 while lookin at the GP.......I enjoying MINI's own M series!

Thanks. I got the wheels at the dealer with no problem. They'll just ask you for your VIN number to be able to get them for you.
I do love my M-Coupe. Especially now with the new wheels:
