There are some mighty awesome wheels in this thread.

For me, the GP is so unique, special, and iconic that I'd have a hard time messing with the look of the original vehicle, including the OE wheels. It'd be a tough struggle between the motivation to preserve and the itch to mod...

Lighter wheels and better tires only help to improve the GPs performance. And wheels can be changed so nothing permanent

I like the black wheels. That looks great.
What size tires are you using?

tire size are 205 45 17

so sticky compared to the crappy runflats. funny the runflats are in my garage and the tread compound feels more like hard plastic than rubber. The new yoko advan ad08s are like bubblegum, and improved the handling greatly.

as for changing the look of the gp, i agree it is a unique looking car from the factory, and I like the look of the wheels, however:

18" tires provide very little cushion on bumpy maine roads.
the wheels are in a climate controlled garage where they will not get nicked, scratched dented or otherwise abused by the road. If they were not part of the original and unique look to the gp they would be on ebay by now, because the 17's are lighter, better looking, and ride better with the slightly higher profile tire. i have no intention of ever using them again, but will of course keep them for a future owner of the car.

per corner= 3lb reduction for tire wheel combo. not a huge deal, but it all adds up.
