ITG Filter for my GP

Does any one in the USA sell this? I had one on my other GP and it helped it breathe. The company that sold it is no longer in business.

Way Motor Works purchased the remaing stock from a Florida vendor who sold ITG filters. Could be he may have one.

If not, I run the JCW Alta foam replacement filter in my JCW airbox and it works awesome.

They are under 50 bucks too and just as easy to clean.

ITG is not the way to go. Sorry to break it to you fellas. Wait til the oil fouls up your MAF. Had this happen with my JimC intake on the MCoupe. ITG is not a good filter medium. Foam is not good for filtering air. Neither is cotton. Paper has the best filtering properties. Foam lets in a lot of dirt. How do I know? I took out my manifold and saw a ton of oil and dirt stuck to the sidewalls. I would not recommend anyone using an ITG filter as it probably will shorten the life of the engine. Not worth it for an unfelt 2-3hp gain at 7100rpm. Sorry.

I totally disagree this is my second GP and I used the Filter on both. Over the years I have used the filter on a Porsche 911 and in the UK on a Peugeot 309 GTI and a few Escort XR3 I's I never had a problem. I can tell the difference in the GP from the regular JCW filter. Everyone has their opinions.

Well, just don't over oil the filter then. That's gonna cause problems in the long run. And check your Maf regularly too. Let me know what you find.

Good thing 1st gens us a MAP sensor instead of a MAF. A MAP sensor is not going to be effected nearly as bad as a MAF will be by contamination.

I'm not going to get into a pi$$ing match here, but my experience with the ITG has been good. Clean them regularly and DO NOT over oil them!

If they are good enough to be used on a Cosworth DFV in a Historic Formula 1 car, they are good enough for my MINI.

Well, I don't want to argue either b/c to each his own, but anecdotal evidence such as this doesn't mean a thing for real world owners such as ourselves.

Remember, every F1 race team rebuilds their engines after each race. So wear and tear probably isn't an issue. All I'm telling you is what I saw in my engine. And it wasn't pretty. But go ahead, its your car. Do as you please.

For some reason, I just KNEW you were going to chime in again.
