Ruined a GP
I love the GP.....rare 2 seater, long flat back seat DELETE, awesome handling and looks.
So how is this GP ala Elcomino any different than that from the factory ?
Except that the one from the factory has a rear bed cap over that long flat bed liner ?
I applaude this guys work. It's neat, clean and looks factory. And yes, back in the day Austin MINI did actually make a pick up truck version of their car.

Somebody could buy the Mona Lisa, and use it as their dining room cloth - whatever makes them happy. Obviously we'd all be outraged. The GP is not nearly so precious, but still, some of us wince when it's bastardized when a more common Mini could have sufficed.
His car, if he's happy - fine. But we're also entitled to our insults.
I am as much of an admirer of the GP as anyone else, hell I even have a set of GP rims on my MCS. But from a functionalitly standpoint, I just don't see the harm in it. I never quite understood the whole back seat delete logic as a factory standard unless a roll cage comes with it anyways.

Yeah, if I didnt have children a GP would be in my garage. And it take almost 38 lbs out of the R53, and that is better than adding HP, but the whole rear seat delete as a standard for a 3dr hatch back instead of an option ? And no roll cage ? It's like only half of an idea IMO that's all.
I have always liked tatefully customized cars. However, I have always cringed when I see a classic Vette done up with some awefull 70's conversions.
With that said.. it may take more than 50 yrs before the GP may make the mark as a rare and collector car in the auction marketplace.
Watch Barrett Jackson or Mecum and those original rare muscle cars/track cars going for top dollar are really high HP generation related cars. This current generation may appreciate these GP's in another 40 years also.
Because I own a mini or would possibly like to own a GP... I dont think I would see a better return for many many years to come,so this customization is just par for course on where the market is now for current cars...I think I like it.

I actually like it, they might have ruined the "original GP" but this looks cool, it doesn't look like a cheap job, but those lambo doors definitely have got to go!
It doesn't look riced out either.

Don't like that it was a GP either, or the fact that it's so friggin long! I've already thought about doing this to my Clubbie. Or just chop the whole roof off and put the roadster windshield on with a few surf boards stickin' out the rear... beach cruiser!
Optical Illusion, I think...
