GP emergency boot release location?

Hi. I recently acquired a gp seat delete for my canadian car and have been loving it . One thing that I didn't think about till after the install though was relocating the emergency boot release cable. So eventually I'm going to have to tear out the rear pannels and tray to relocate it but I have no idea to where . Does anyone have a picture of its location in a GP? I'm assuming that it's accesible without removing pannels as it is in the regular cars but I'm at a loss as to its location. Any help would be appreciated.

I'll be surprised if it's installed on the GP.
The reason for it on a four seater MINI is, if the battery goes flat, you need to open the hatch to charge the battery.
But on the GP, you can simply get to the battery from the front of the car.

In this picture, I don't see any additional cabling from the lock, only the electrics (click for bigger image):

Hey Ian,

Did the Dynamat do what you expected? did you also place it in the doors and floor? Lots of questions as I have been sitting on materials (Dynamat, some felt like sound proofing etc) that I purchased but have never installed in my GP. Anything you would do different?

Thanks!

The Dynamat definitely improves the doors - it makes them sound more solid, and reduces incoming road noise; can't say it improves audio, but it makes the doors "nicer".

At the rear of the car, it didn't do what I wanted - reduce road / wheel noise from the back of the car. At least, it didn't do as much as I wanted.

No release in my GP.

I added FatMat (simlar to Dynamat) to the rear of my GP and I thought it worked well. It removed some of the road, tire, and exhaust noise. It damped the noise slightly which is what I was looking for. I was not doing it for audio just for a long trip. I have not done the doors yet. Based on Ian's thoughts, it sounds like the doors make a better improvement so I should do that next.

Thanks for the replies.

I had no idea that the GP didn't have one. Probably still a good idea to relocate it though as my cars rear latch tends to go crazy from time to time after a wash. It would be handy to have for that reason alone until I do the water proofing fix in the handle that has been stated in another thread. Thanks.

You have to open the bonnet and then on charge the car from there, not the trunk (like most BMWs)

You will find a plus terminal in the Engine compartment and the negative goes on the frame. If the car won't charge, then you can still open your trunk at that point.
look here:
+TERMINAL

Cheers and good luck

The area that seemed to have the greatest effect on noise for me was the rear inner fender wells. I covered these with Dynamat by removing them and then doing the back side. There may be a better product than Dynamat for this purpose but I will leave that to the experts. It seemed to quite down the back of the car where most of the noise is coming from. Also if someone wants to revert back the panels could be changed very easily.

That's a great way to do it, Steve!
I didn't cover every square inch of the rear wheel wells on the inside so that's like why it's not as quieted as I'd hoped
