Yeh Ian, but its got the heart of a GP. Since my GP was totaled I figured a transplant would breath some new life into my MCS. It has the GP body kit, the engine and transmission, the engine computer, all of the suspension, brakes, wheels, the tailgate & wing, seats, shift box, and basically everything that is unique to the GP. If you could drive with your eyes closed (not recommended) you'd have a hard time telling the difference between my MCS and a GP. And yes, I still have my other GP as a baseline.
Ian, how have you been? I haven't seen or talked to you since MTTS 06.
If you've successfully transplanted the SOUND, that's the best bit
Doing good ... down to only the GP now (and a non-MINI!), and more busy with "real life" than MINI life - but doing the Blue Ridge Parkway / Great Ice Cream Run / MINIsOnTop for nearly two weeks mid-to-late June, so that'll be like a miniature MTTS - which as you know, was the best MINI event ever
I was at MINI United 2009 at Silverstone and I saw a GP drive past in the parking lot on opening morning. I was with a man and his teenaged son and I told him how neato it was to see one. We get inside finally and there are about 60 GP's total at the event. I will post the images when I can. I have about 60 Silverstone/UK images in my signature.
Thats amazing that you were able to salvage the parts from the totaled car.
Well, in a way I guess you could say I was lucky. The car didn't look that bad after the accident, but the floor pan and the firewall were bent and it would have taken a complete body change to make it right. Even if it were perfect after the repair it would always have an effect on the value of the car, so the insurance company and I were in agreement to have the car totaled. At that point they agreed to sell it back to me.
It just took a couple of weeks of my time and a lot of space to do the swap. Plus it gave me a whole list of smaller projects to fill up my spare time.
