Snow Chains on a GP?

I know I'd rather not have to do it, but just in case, are there snow chains or other options besides snow tires to get a Mini through snow?

I'm just looking to get home and won't be driving in snow again most likely...

Don't even think of snow chains. the damage to the body panels would run BIG bucks. Go south through Ft Stockton to El Paso then stay on US 10 to So Cal. Or else hang out for a day and let the front pass through Texas by mid day Friday. When are you leaving Houston?

MINI says that tire chains should not be used on wheels wider than 6.5". So that would mean that the GP should not have chains mounted on the stock wheels.

Ok! Thanks for the head's up. Luckily I've got 4 days to do 24 hours of driving, so I think I'll be ok. I'm not in a huge hurry... I've got the camera ready and will try to post between stretches of road...

Creech is buying it in Texas and on the drive back to Cal he may encounter some winter weather conditions and wanted info for the drive home. As he said in his first post this is a one time drive in these conditions.

??????????

Why would you buy one to drive it in the winter???????

Because it's an awesome DRIVING machine, to be enjoyed year round, not hung on a wall and admired as art or held captive in a giant plastic bubble like some people on this forum!!

Go buy a champion racehorse and cut its legs off and just stare at it...don't USE it, though..........

With all due respect I disagree.

My GP is my daily driver here in Denver. I got Blizzaks and some nice OZ's to hold them for the winter. I'm in my second winter with GP1292 and have NO issues AND I enjoy driving it every day; even in the snow. Why have one of these baby's and NOT drive it? This car is pure fun in any condition!

It's one of only two in Colorado anyway and that's added value and puts a smile on my face every mile!

I drove mine in California winter but in Philly second thoughts about it. Looking for a used 88-90 325is under $1500 now.

I have a used '86 325es with snow tires for ya, it's a great car but I have too many vehicles in my driveway! Only 193K miles (barely broken in for the ETA engine), but it is starting to rust (perfect for a winter beater).

It even has the great stock recaro sport seats, the most comfortable seats I have ever sat in.
