GP1696 Stolen and Burned
GP1696 Stolen and Burned
Wed my GP was stolen sometime between 3:30pm and 9:00pm. I was at work at the time, my roommate came home to find my car gone and everything we own in the house was missing. I gave my statement to the police at 12:30am and they showed back up at 5:30am to tell me that they had found the car. The thugs had taken the car to a very nice neighborhood here in town, were it sat for an hour before it went up in flames. They took me out to look at the car right after they found it, one of the saddest days of my life. I had planned on keeping the car forever. Why would anyone want to do something like this. I had left an extra set of keys to the car inside the house where anyone would have seen them, if they had not found the key then they might not have taken the car. Please everyone learn from my mistake and don't leave any of your keys inside where someone could grab them.
Condolences.
We had a breakin a few months ago and I was VERY lucky that they were just looking for cash. Like you I leave a key in a very accessible spot.
Now I keep it in a safe.

Thats a horrible thing to happen to anyone but definitely makes you think about what you do with your spare keys while not at home. We have already made an effort to put our keys away.

I'll add my sincere condolences, David.
It was two decades ago that my home was broken into and burned to the ground. So, 1) I can relate and I know how you are feeling, and 2) I can assure you that over time, the material loss will fade and you'll realize how lucky you were to not be home at the time, where you could have lost something much more important.
But for now, I know you are feeling lots of emotions. Again, I'm sorry this happened to you.

I can't even guess how you must feel. That has to be a great loss. I do see a couple for sale on this site and maybe you can get your insurance company to replace it. Best of luck and thanks for the tip on the keys.

when you get things sorted, and, if you want to replace the GP, there's an owner with two, one stored with less than 1k miles...last I heard, this owner was planning to sell it (fair price too). shoot me a PM if he doesn't post here first
I would like to thank everyone that has posted here. It does make me feel somewhat better about the sitution. They did just take my valuables, TV, computers, camera, electronics etc. They took anything that could fit in the car, which with the GP with no back seat you can fit alot. I am looking to replace the car and I will keep everyone posted on how the insurance handles this. Thanks again to everyone. David
