GP1696 Stolen and Burned
I would like to thank everyone that has help in one way or another over the past couple of months. Be either on this forum or those I've talked to over the phone. I did settle with the insurance company, they came up a 1,000 so I got 30,300 which I thought was a good offer. As of right now I'm in the process of trying to find a place to live. I'm hoping to be moved within the next couple of months, and hoping there will a GP for sale when I get my new place. Thanks again everyone and may GP1696 rest in peace.
I am saddened to hear of the terrible crime that has occurred to you and your roommate. Thankfully the both of you were not home and are safe. Regardless, I can only imagine how awful it feels, for I too plan on keeping my MINI forever. I wish you the best.
It still amazes me how idiotic people can be. Nothing better to do in life than steal a bunch of crap from other people. Get a DAMN job! I hope these social rejects get hit by a bus and spend the rest of their lives as a vegetable in a wheelchair.
On a tangent, I NEVER leave the keys to my car out. They're ALWAYS in my pocket, or laying next to me as I sleep. I live in a pretty safe area (Ranked in the top 20 overall in the country, Agoura Hills/Thousand Oaks/Simi Valley), and you should have seen what I went through when my window wouldn't roll up. I parked every car we own (4) in the driveway blocking the driveway so nobody could get to the car without climbing over things and even then, they would have needed to steal 3 other cars and use a crane to get mine off my property

Just wanted to let everyone know that I am now the proud owner of GP 0252
I picked it up in San Diego and drove it up the coast to San Fran on Highway 1 which was one of the most beautiful drives I've ever been on. Then made a stop in Vegas before heading back here to Nashville. I have to say it feels really good to be back behind the drivers seat of the baddest Mini ever
Thanks again everyone and I hope to see all of ya'll back out on the open road. David

I just saw this thread due to your post today...
First off, so sorry to hear what happened with GP1696...however, I'm glad to hear that you have found another GP!
Are you going to insure it the "traditional" way (depreciation method) or the "modern" way as mentioned in some of the posts in the thread?
Who was/is your insurance company?

Hmmm. pics... lemme guess... I bet it looks something kinda like this...

... except maybe with a different number on top... and without the front plate...

Wow; this story has touched a lot of us; what a horrid thing to have happen! Some sub-humans don't want to work for anything and have no respect for people who do. I'd say they must have been raised by wolves, but that would be an insult to wolves. My husband & I were horrified when we read your story, David; we're glad you're motoring in style again!
BTW: That photo - my husband is now telling me that is exactly the JCW he wants... what a beauty!

My condolences.
Mean people suck.
