Is this high mileage for MINI - I want to purchase from independent person

Hey Everybody!!

My wife and I are considering buying a Mini from an independent seller.
We are wondering if the mileage is too high to considering purchasing, and how much longer will the Mini last?

It's a 2002 mini Hard-Top for $14,750, it has 89,000 miles.
It has a super-charger, double sun-roofs( 1 opens), 2007 rims, dynamic stability control, no navigation, has multi functions, also heated seats.

What do you think?

Thanks alot!!!

Yes for an 02... you're looking closer to $12,500 to 13,000.

Welcome to NAM!!! Is it a MC or a MCS? For a just a little more you can get a 2007 MC. I think that price is a little high.

Sounds like a lot for the age/mileage. Also, why new wheels at that age? Did it run over railroad tracks? I could see new tires, but the 07 wheels makes me suspicious.

That's about 18,000 miles per year, depending on when it was put into service. Average is about 12,000 per year. High miles might not be a concern if the car was driven easily and well maintained. Ask to see all the maintenance records - if they don't have them, walk away. Miles are factored into the price - go to Edmunds.com to get a realistic value for the car.

I know there are a great deal of factors I don't know but within a year or so you'll be at 100,000 miles. That is a big number. Look around for one with less miles and pay $14,500.

My .02 cents worth.

the superchargers on these cars is said to last 100,000 miles. So you should factor the replacement into the cost .there are soooo many factors that go into a price. Is the car heavily modded? This can mean that it was driven hard, or that it was even raced. Good suggestion to ask for service records. My car has close to 92 k but has had almost the whole car replaced ( clutch, flywheel, steering column, power steering fan and motor, complete wiring harness.......it's a story of getting a first year car and most of it was replaced under warrentee) You would be getting a great deal if you bought my car for the price you quoted, as I have close to 10k in mods in my car, two sets of wheels and never raced or auto x'd............if I was going to sell it, which I'm not: hence my screen name

Really I think you should look elsewhere, at that the kind of miles that car has, it's going to lead to supercharger, etc, needing replacing in the future.

...another advantage of the R56. Turbos last a lot longer...technically the life of the engine if you maintain your car correctly.
