Voting apparently stays open until 10:30 this morning. Let's try to mount a rally here in the last 3 hours. By my calculations:

350Z = 2895 votes
MINI = 2467 votes.

We're down by 428 votes. BUT since we've been more or less matching vote for vote since Friday, we need to double the difference to close the gap. In other words - right now we need over 850 votes just to get back to 50-50 (assuming that their voting rate maintains a similar rate as it has been).

SO GET OUT YOUR VOTE FOR MINI!

I was still able to vote, but by my calculations, we are down by 329 votes.

At least the 350Z is a performance car. It's not like we lost to a Tahoe or something...

I encourage everyone to email/PM everyone they know that will vote for MINI. We have about 1 hour left to rally. Not easy, but not impossible. I sent the following email to everyone I could (you're welcome to copy it if you want):

You may or may not have seen this, but Cars.com is holding a "Great Car Face-off" that is down to the Final 4. MINI is currently losing to the Nissan 350Z. MINI fans have until 10:30 this morning to mount a rally and overcome an 8% deficit in the polls.

Since the 350Z crowd is pretty huge in comparison to the MINI, this is another David and Goliath battle that would be neat to see MINI win! If we can beat the 350Z the MINI is a virtual shoo-in for top billing in the entire poll!

Don't bother voting more than once since they track votes by IP address. Without further ado - GO VOTE MINI!

http://www.cars.com/go/great-car-faceoff/

...and then forward this email to anyone else you can think of that will vote for MINI.

I voted for the 8th time in 4 days (I vote at home and work) . . . and since the MINI is still losing, I pulled up next to a Z on my way to work and burned him off the line -- now I feel much better.

Looks like we lost. But we put up a dang good fight!

I just refreshed and now it's the 350Z against the BMW X5. With the 350Z winning 100% (with 1 vote)

It was fun! Good job everyone with the voting!

But what is with the new description!? "Extremely cute and popular Mini Cooper"???

It's all over the Z got it but we can have revenge.

Vote for the BMW X5 to topple the Z from the top

Gee. I hate when you work like the dickens for no gain.

Now I'm torn - do I vote X5 out of sheer spite (well, it is a pretty darn nice SAV if you swing that way...) or do I vote for the Z out of respect for beating us?

Even though I despise SUVs, I say vote for the X5. Keep it in the family... not to mention, if I HAD to have an SUV, the X5 would be very high up on the list (probably in close competition with the Porsche Cayenne).

As fervent as I was an hour ago, I find myself leaning toward complete abstention now as well.

Done with the voting. It wasn't just 350Z owners voting, but everyone with a Nissan of any kind. Many others who will vote for a sports car "just because."
