Lets see.. Tires and wheels at 80 miles, pulley, cai and Borla at 4000 miles,
rear sway bar at 10000 miles and short shift kit at 14000 miles, next is
M7 strut tower brace at 17000 miles. That is the first year

My wife and I share the same addiction last car we did was her 96 Z3 roady which there is nothing left to mod. I have spent more on that ride in mods than the original purchase price! Still have it still love it and would notchange a thing.

I didn't quite make it a full year before the mods came and the money in my bank account went missing. It was the winter and the lack of driving, and reading both at NAM and Motoringfile that pushed me over that modding edge...

Now I am already planning out and buying as money comes in for both interior, exterior, electrical and performance mods. Just got a shifter and ebrake boot from redlinegoods to match the interior of the Chkmat, m7 tuning strut bar, CAI, ian's autoup, ipod adapter, and the list is growing.

And I haven't even begun the amount of money spent on detailing products to keep her in tip top shape and shinning for all to see.

Stock is over rated anyways!

Sorry lads, the last time I did any mods was in 1991 with the Cougar, I've had an 88 GT Mustang (can you name all the mods available ?) up until now and she's still stock. How much would you guys like to put on it ?

In your case, I would consider a radar detector a mod.
BTW: you are wise to save your money.

With all due respect SpitfireMkI, I've had many Mustang GTs, many Triumph GT6s, many Ford F350 Powerstrokes, etc...never modified any of them...had no intentions of modifying my Mini when I placed the order...but that was 3 years ago...

Ditto - I've had 10+ cars and never even remotely been interested in this crazy waste of money. It's just a car.

Geesh. Now I'm a junkie.

I agree... Out of all the cars I've owned, I never even considered modding. I was always afraid of voiding warranty, or breaking something myself, or just enjoying the stock setup.

But the MINI seems as if it begs for it. There are so many mods from simple to complex.

I've seen your car. I think you basically saved up all the mods from all those previous rides and did them all to your MINI.

I have NO MODS, after 4 years.........It is my observation that the more one mods the less likely they are to own the car for 10+ years, I believe that it is a behavior driven by the inability to just be happy with what you have, and since they are not happy by leaving things stock they move on and buy another car as soon as they have "invested" all they can....so being creative types, bored, and having too much time and money on thier hands they are off to buy another rapidly depreciating asset to "invest" more money in mods futhermore I have nothing to prove by asserting my individuality, and you won't find pictures of my car pasted all over the web, displaying all my coolest mods.....If I didn't like the car to begin with I would not have bought it...

Interesting observation / theory. I'm sure this holds in many cases. In my case, I have a Short Attention Span - combined with OCD - so I get completely obsessed with things for about 6-12 months, then on to the next obsession. This should be about right for the MINI - turn it into a really cool tweaked buff conversation piece that I happen to Love to Drive, then I'll get bored with the whole Mod thing - or at least I hope my predictable pattern of the past 41 years continues to hold in this case...

One of the reasons I leased my previous three cars was to break the habit of being an auto-neurotic. Not caring about mods... Not caring about carwashes, oil changes or worse yet, door dings.

Now that I'm on my second Mini, and I own this one-- I failing badly at being mod-free!

True, very true. But wasting money and time on mods is better than other vices. Just imagine how healthy Britney Spears might be today, had she ever discovered NAM! She'd be writing in and asking about child safety seats, pink dashboard mods, the works!
