General MINI TalkShared experiences, motoring minutes, and other general MINI-related discussion that applies to all MINIs, regardless of model, year or trim.
Sure, it's in the background (this is an old photo), but my current daily is a 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk named Badger (picked up used in Nov 2016), and it's been a real good workhorse for its utility, and off-road capabilities. It's also quite nice inside, and drives well enough for long trips. I use it for both personal, and work purposes, so the miles do rack up though. In 2 1/2 years, I've put on around 60k miles (currently just rolled over 111k miles), so I can expect it to surpass Egan (with 163k miles) in a few short years.
I am about to reshuffle my fleet, but right now the MINI just came online and is not yet ready to be a daily. So, I daily a 2015 Prius C with 100,000 miles on it. It's a rock solid little car with no real faults other than being dreary. My other car that is on the road is my 1998 Nissan Frontier 4X2 with a KA24DE 4 cylinder and a 5 speed manual trans that I just rebuilt. It currently has 409,000 miles of mostly pizza delivery on it's original engine (and owner). It's the last vehicle I would ever get rid of and the one I have traveled the most miles in. It has a good stereo and ice cold A/C (that I rebuilt a few years back) and is very reliable. However, it will soon need an engine rebuild. I also have a 1979 AMC Spirit (my first car I have had for 30 years) and a 1985 Oldsmobile Cutlass. Both are heavily modified and probably leaving the fleet in the coming months. I may also ditch the Prius to get out of the car payment, but that depends on the MINI. I am planning to add one more vehicle after eliminating at least two and that's a Jeep. It will either be a TJ Wrangler or a XJ Cherokee. It has to be 4 wheel drive and have the AMC 4.0 straight six and little to no rust. Other than that, I can fix any mechanical issues myself.
Just got my '05 Mini, but my other car is a '14 F150 FX4. Needed something that got better than 15 mpg for everyday driving, and something with a bit more fun factor.
