Is any one going to Boston for MTTS 08? I live in DE and will be driving up on Thursday 06/19. Staying in the Doubletree Bayside.

Our BEP MC looks the best just sittin' there as well... (I might be a bit prejudiced... )
What is a marker rally?

I don't know what a marker rally is...but I'm glad you won it!
We were in san antonio, texas this past weekend and there was a car show with probably 300+ cars. With only 1 cooper there . We left before the award ceremony. But I would be surprised if he/she didn't win. What category would it be in - foreign? compact? there were no other foreign cars and most of the cars there were big block mustangs, chevy's,etc

Marker Rally is...

a rally that has several checkpoints along the course that require the participants to look for or do certain things to gain points (kinda like a scavenger hunt). The winners are chosen not by the quickest team to cover the course, but the team that covers the course in the shortest mileage closest to the course minimum and who have gathered the most amount of points at the checkpoints.

It was pretty fun...a good time with other MINIs and their drivers.

We're going to Boston MTTS '08. Will hit the reception Friday evening, stay at our daughter's apartment in Providence, then the three of us will do the Saturday and Sunday events. Looking most forward to it.

For my Purple friends....I still have the custom Purple DP caliper kit here and would love to find a proper home for it.

I will reduce this to $850 shipped to your door. (US)

Two custom pc'd Wilwood DP calipers, BP10 pads, standard rotors, hats, brackets, fluid, bleeder bottle and rear hose kit- all in one package, one price.

*Note that it does not come with the drilled rotors shown, plain but zinc plated ones are included. (keeps the dust down)

Thanks Ken! No, that wasn't my car at the show and shine, though we will be in Seattle tomorrow for the Trans Siberian Orchestra concert at the Key Arena. Great video!

I guess I'll post up even though I just started a new PH/BEP thread. I wanted to see how many of them there were. Plus, I was also curious as to how many were JCWs. A saw one or two. So if you're lurking, cmon out!

I keep being told that I should be able to sell my Purple Haze '06 JCW for top dollar, that the color/factory JCW combo is quite rare. Anybody have a good idea how to find a buyer looking for that? I'd hate to give it away at a trade in if there is a demand. Anybody comment?

Maybe you should check with your local MINI dealer. We have two dealers in the Vancouver BC area. Both have called me at various times regarding having a buyer wanting my MINI (because they saw it on the street) and wanted to buy it off me. It hasn't happened much recently, but I still do get comments (mostly good) about my car from total strangers from time to time.

The last call I got from the dealer, my MINI was 3 years old. I had paid $31K for my car new and the buyer was offering $28K for it. The money was tempting but my wife wouldn't let me sell it.

I'm not sure you would get much of an offer this time of year. Usually, the more serious buyers come out late spring and into the summer.

Good luck with it.

I like the chrome scoop, mainly because I have one too!

This was taken on one of our club (MINI5280.org) trips last year. Returning from Yellowstone, in the Grand Tetons.

hey, VioletDC,

Your car looks exactly like how I configured my car when I ordered mine.

Except, the dealer had a car in transit already as pre-ordered by somebody else who decided on a different car. So they gave me a discount to take the one I eventually got instead.

Once you see one and given a deal like that, Beken, I totally understand how you couldn't pass it up!

Does anyone recognize this PH MCS?

The reason I ask is that I bought it last month with only 8,300 miles on it (yes, it's a 2005 MCS with only 8,300 miles on it) and I'd like to hear its story from its original owner. Maybe even get a service history on it, whatever I can find out.

I bought it from Blue **** Auto (goofy name, I know) and they bought it from the Washington DC auto auction. So the owner was likely from the middle range of the east coast (NJ, MD, PA, DC, VA, WV).

Thanks!
Tom

No, Tom, I'm afraid I haven't. Wow ... an '05 w/<9k miles??? Unheard of! U might just wanna do the VIN # check thing, which should give u plenty of info on the car.

I got a carfax on it, but it doesn't give the previous owners name and that would probably be a privacy violation. I was just hoping someone would recognize it - maybe from the DC Metro Mini club...

Using the VIN and a friendly MINI dealer, you might be able to figure out exactly which dealer it was originally delivered to. Maybe even the ship that carried it over the pond and the exact production date. Note that the MINI dealer (service dept) can read lots of information, including odometer, etc from the key fob. You could then use that information to search through old NAM (and others) posts. It might cost you a dozen donuts.
