Check Engine Light

After filling up yesterday, my Check Engine light came on. Of course, the first thing I checked was the gas cap, which looked fine and was unobstructed. I still opened and sealed it again.

Curious: If it WAS the gas cap. How long does it take before the computer "checks" again? It's my understanding that it doesn't check every time you start.

I have already made an appointment, unfortunately the next available is not for 6 days.

No noticeable performance issues. I've driven about 25 miles since.

It's a 2022 S with 28,000 miles.

Thanks,

Joseph

Update (Even though no one replied)

Light went out 2 nights ago. Filled up again tonight. Stopped at the store. Light came back on when I restarted.

Most of the people is have seen said it was the gas cap.
User - " Update: after several tries with re-seating the gas cap. This morning’s attempt did the trick." It seems to be tricky on the Gen 3 MINIs.

r/MINI - Just under 6500 miles and check engine light.

I would get a code reader just as back up. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d-q-and-a.html
