Lim Button

Scared the crap out of myself this week. I was stopped at an intersection just waiting for traffic, and when it was my turn I took off, and couldn't figure out what was going on but it wouldn't go over 20mph. I looked at the speedo and saw a LIM 20, and my first thought was it went into Limp mode for some reason. So I pulled over and did the look, listen, and feel test to see if I could see any smoke anywhere, listened for any weird noises, and was trying to feel if there were any weird vibrations in the steering wheel. I didn't find anything unusual, and turned it off and let it sit for a minute and started it back up. No check engine light, no more LIM20 light. Long story short I researched as much as I could and didn't find anything that answered any of my questions. So I took it to the dealer to see what was going on. The service dept guys didn't have any idea and were getting ready to take it to the service bay when my salesman came up and asked what was going on. I told him, and he said I know what that is, come with me. He hopped in started it and hit the LIM button by the cruise control buttons. Then he proceeded to tell me about the button and said it's mainly used in Europe (didn't say why), so I'm wondering why it's on my car since I am not in Europe. But for the life of me, I do not remember hitting that stupid button!

I love the limiter and use it every day. I set it to 5-10 over the speed limit and then just drive normally without having to worry about getting pulled over or triggering a speed camera.

I thought it was kind of dumb when I first got the car, but now I wish our older mini had it as well.

I just use the cruise control. lol buttons like the LIM button should come with a verification question to make sure you want to use it!
