Hi All,

I've been on this forum since '04, when I had a Cooper S for a few years.

Got my wife a 2024 Cooper SE last June, which she loves, but wireless CarPlay will randomly fail to connect about a third of the time she gets into the car.
There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason why it won't connect, and we'll sometimes have to forget her phone (iPhone 14 Pro, iOS always kept up to date). and reconnect to get it to work again.

We are in a new city and she doesn't know her way around, and really wants to use Apple Maps or Google Maps to navigate, and this has become a major frustration for us, as she never knows when it will work.

Is this a know issue with wireless CarPlay? I just wish wired CarPlay was an option - we have it in our other car and it of course works 100% of the time.

 

Is there really no way to use it wired?
I'm surprised. All the cars with wireless CarPlay I've seen so far support wired connection as well.

 

Does it have built in Nav from MINI? I thought all recent SEs got built in Nav. Mine works well enough but I've only had the car about 6 weeks and haven't needed the Nav much. Might be a reasonable compromise until the connection issue is sorted out.

Mine always seems to connect to my phone when I jump in, but on the weekend it wouldn't connect to my daughter's iPhone. I still need a bit of time figuring out the infotainment system - first car I've had with such fancy features and too old to RTM.
