Yeah pretty much have to feel for center while tightening the pressure plate I used the cheap plastic alignment tool my kit came with to help move it around.
I have one that I'd be glad to let you borrow if you just cover USPS mailing cost.
Can confirm that it was quite handy 'n helpful when I did my clutch, but that was the first and only R53 clutch I've done so have no idea how it'd be without the tool.

It’s not hard, my issue was having some burrs in the female spline of the clutch that I was unaware of until trying to install the gearbox, I’m going to say that before installing the clutch, make sure it slides very easy over the spline on the gearbox before installing! Both directions. I had to take a file and remove the burrs inside the clutch. I believe this is what caused me to destroy my gearbox. The clutch I used was clutchmasters. The cheap plastic alignment tool is not made to the same tolerance as a stock metal spline. I think I’m going to take the stock spline out of my old gearbox and make an alignment tool out of that myself, if I had the time at work I would custom make a bunch of these.
