Moonroof left open in rain = Restraint Malfunction Light
Moonroof left open in rain = Restraint Malfunction Light
Greetings!
Just curious if anyone has ever left their moonroof/sunroof or windows open while it had rained? I now have a driver restraint malfunction warning light on. Initially had both a passenger and driver restraint light on but the passenger light has gone off on its own. Read in the BMW forums and YouTube where other people have cleared the light by turning the seat heat on in addition to running the heater, etc.. Considering this is on my 2022 Mini Countryman, the car is still under warranty however I would prefer to clear the problem/light myself if possible. Any input you may have would be appreciated.

Dry it out and then i would scan to make sure no stored fault codes. Clear the codes, see if they come up again. If so something might be damaged need replaced. If its is then maybe they can fix under warranty.

Would still appreciate your input on what you feel is the best OBD2 code reader for newer model Minis and BMWs. I purchased a relatively inexpensive Zurich 13s from Harbor Freight but would certainly upgrade based on your knowledge and experience. Our son has a BMW X6 that I'm sure I could find use for in the future considering our three vehicle invesmtnes in Mini/BMW.
Regards and thanks again!!

I got my X5 35d fourteen days prior and it has 600 miles on it. My significant other went outside recently and let me know I left my windows open for the time being. All things considered, it's the center of winter so I additionally asked why my windows were open! It's freezing here in Boston! I went out and sufficiently sure, each of the 4 windows AND the sunroof were open, and, obviously, it had down-poured the prior night, only a tad. I realize I didn't leave the windows down, and I have at this point to contact the sunroof, so either the windows unexpectedly opened or I some way or another held the open conservative long enough to open all windows and sunroof totally, without knowing it. Regardless, the cowhide on the front seats and armrest on the two entryways seems to have enlarged some and the surface/kinks of the calfskin is no more. The calfskin is somewhat wavy where it seems to have extended/enlarged and not tight and smooth like it was before it got wet. What's more, the traveler restriction framework is currently tossing a blunder. I think the warmed seats additionally were affected as they were not warming uniformly, yet that is by all accounts settling all alone. It appears as though water splashed into the seat inside as well as the calfskin? On my old vehicles throughout the long term, all BMWs, I have left the sunroof and windows open for the time being unintentionally a couple of times and had downpour drench the inside. Nonetheless, the vehicles were rarely influenced this way! Presently conceded, leaving the sunroof and windows open in the downpour is definitely not a brilliant move for any vehicle, and I positively don't regularly practice it, yet I would anticipate that some more resistance should getting the inside "washed", it is a vehicle all things considered and "stuff" occurs! I'll give the vehicle a couple of additional days to dry out, and afterward check whether the calfskin "contracts" once more and in the event that the traveler light goes out. In the event that not, off to the seller to figure it out.
