Sold a car , 3x months later buyer has this to say....

So I sold my 2006 mini cooper S aero with 120k , some body rust , NO CEL while in my possession. I was completely honest about the car as I had it only 2x months TOPS and acquired it in a trade. I never even got around to registering the car as I was going to modify it more befor I did BUT I ended up with 3x different mini's at that point so I decided to sell the aero.
I changed oil , sc oil , put on performance pulley , catless header and defouler, msd coil and wires , new belt , new step colder plugs , 380cc injectors, tuned, intake, larger ic and upgraded boots and Id put 2x used but at 85% life tires on the car i had because 2x were bald when i got it. I also cleaned the heck out of the inside as prior owner befor me had a BIG dog and a baby. Other than them mods I really didn't do much with the car. But it did leak some oil but other than that while in my possession I don't think a cel EVER even came on but anyways. I even offered to hook up inpa and show him all the cars parameters n stuff but he declined after the test drive.
the current owner ( call him B )asked 1st to make payments and I agreed but then someone else befor he decided he was going to make payments or not someone offers me 4500 and already had looked at the car twice. So B contacts me again asking if I still have the car and if anyone else contacted me and I told him about the other guy.
so B says " ok , I could give you 4000 TONIGHT " . So since I told him he coulda made payments I didn't wanna say " noooo , someone else is gonna buy the car now " instead I let B come THAT night. I'd told B EVERYTHING I did to the car AND knew about the car. I then encouraged B to take it for a LONG , HARD test drive and look it iver a 2nd time once he comes back.
sooooo he takes it for a drive , comes back 3min later and is all smiles and saying " o yea, it's good. I really really like it" blablabla..
soo 3x months later I get a text from that jerk yesterday saying in not so polite words " i had to soend 1500$ to fix a snapped bolt in a map by the intake " " after i paid to have a new crank and belt put on because that's what I thought was wrong "
and then he is implying somehow I knew tgat that 1x little bolt was broke and saying that he also had to replace the tires and tgat I'm " a piece of **** methhead who just rips people off " lolol is he serious ??
no offense but if you can't even turn a wrech you have NO BUISNESS owning an r53. They're older car and they're going to have issues eventually...
I tried to help the chump , I offered to him even after he bought the car IF he had any issues arrise soon after getting it home ,lmk ille do anything I can to help. And he never contacted me ONCE other than to imply I tried getting over on him..he kept insulting me and finally I told him " we don't need to text , we can chat in person if you'd like . You have my address your welcome by " and he went silent... keyboard warriors..
what a p.o.s , I almost wanna put his name out there so none of you ever deal with him either.. lets see if he is man enough to chime in this post and give his side of the story for you guys because theres always 2x sides.. but i try and be as transparent as possible. I didnt need to sell him that car and i took 500 less selling it to him also.. id have been more than happy keeping that car because imo 4000 was pretty low considering what that car was. Sure it had some body damage but nothing that couldn't be fixed , had 120k miles only , stock aero kit and I think it might have had a jcw head on it also but I couldn't verify it for sure so I never even mentioned it in the sale..here's a vid of the car shortly befor I sold it.
what do you guys think ? I feel like he was TOTALLY in the wrong to contact me 3x MONTHS LATER. I get it I do , I've bought cars and had them just fall apart pretty much literally days after bringing them home. That's just the nature of buying used cars I thought.. sometimes you get a gem sometimes you get a lemon . But it's not like I put antismoke in the oil or octane boost in the gas or wd40 on the body to make it shine more OR reset the ecu..lol ENCOURAGED him to drive abd drive it hard and long because I just didn't get much seat time in it so I feel I did all I could for this chump bit this really has me heated.

i do sales for BMW, so i get called names daily- so im used to it. but you cant make this **** up. ive sold cars to people that they've had inspected by their own mechanic, and 9 months later it needed brakes. he called me and told me how much of a POS i was etc.
so my advice is, just move on. the general public is the worst of the worst.

lol .i think its the self entitlement issue people seem to have lately , like everybody owes them something..
but yes , I just blocked the baby...i was hoping hed chime in but i knew he was too coward.. I warmed him and said if texts me again I will post up pics of our chat and then his name too. Only reason I'm not calling him out is because he barely comes on here so why start a problem that doesn't exist..
I just can't belive someone has the nerve to buy an old used car and contact the seller 3x months later about minor minor issues , exp when ita been to a mechanic numerous times prior...o well.. just washing my hands of the scumbag and moving on..
it just blows my mind though still , I've sold probably 50-60 cars the past 10x years and NEVER ONCE did I have anybody EVER contact me complaining. Matter fact I've had the opposite..
still wish I would never sold that car too plus imo I sold UT too low.

I've sold a few cars in the past, and ALWAYS when selling a car to another party, cash only. And make out a receipt that states both parties names, keep a copy for yourself, and explicitly call out on the receipt "Car sold as is, no refunds or implied guarantees." Make both of you sign both copies before money exchanges hands. Saves headaches like this.

OTOH, all my previous cars have been sold private party with all of those in condition I'd be willing to buy back (tried a few times). Only exception was the 2013 Fiat Abarth bought private party, only to discover significant collision damage on passenger side hidden by the Abarth lower body cladding. Relisted that right away with full disclosure which didn't dissuade buyer, who relisted it yet again within days at much higher price thinking he could flip it for profit. Doubtful he did but my CL ad clearly stated known history and condition. Truth in Advertising (plus good documentation) wins the day...

I’d say you handled that fiasco well Adam. Anyone that thinks they’re going to buy a $4k R53 and not be in for some expensive surprises down the line is a little naive. Don’t sweat it. We know you’re not out to swindle anyone, quite the contrary actually.

Not Mini Related...but...

Kinda on a similar note:
Many years ago.....
I had a "friend" for years who inherited a 1968 air cooled VW Beetle auto-stick (notwithstanding - the worst trans for a Beetle).
I completely rebuilt his engine (for free), brand new parts: Dual port intake, Weber 2 barrel, align bored, balanced, ported, recon heads, valves, roller rockers, pulley, alt conversion etc, etc...
For months he couldn't thank me enough. 6months later he calls me up - completely out of character, berates we with a barrage of insults, laden with a string of verbal obscenities, blaming me - His engine overheated / seized and was destroyed.
I was speechless.
A year later we happened to run into each other on a set. He apologized to my face profusely, stating that after he blew the motor, he took it to a mechanic who told him quote: "What did you expect?!...The belt broke, the light came on - and you kept driving the car????"

I believe I did because I usually do with all vehicles I sell.. I'm sure I have it in the file cabinet but he's left me alone and I checked his profile and he's not active on here...must have joined only to buy that car..
