Since I've decided that life is too short to not drive a MINI, I've noticed that the sunroof seems different in the newer models. My R53 had a panoramic sunroof (amaaaazing...) - the 2019 that I drove yesterday has two smaller looking ones. Is there a difference or am I just imagining it?
Sounds like you're misremembering the sunroof in your R53. It's always been 2 smaller openings inside the car. Looks like one piece from the outside, though.
hahaha! Kinda like when you're a kid and that hill looked like a mountain?!! Yeah... I know it wasn't all one opening, but it slid back to be wide open which is what I want.
Do the new ones not slide open anymore? It's been a long time since I've been in a MINI with a sunroof. I know for awhile during the 2nd gen you could vent both the front and the back one, but now you can only vent the front one (which was how my R53 was). I wasn't aware that it didn't slide open at all anymore.

The 3rd gen cars do slide open, but only the front panel pops for venting
