Market For Mobile MINI Technician?
Market For Mobile MINI Technician?
As the title suggests, is there a market for a mobile MINI technician?
I've been with the brand for over 15 years and I'm considering my future within the dealership ecosystem. I won't go into details as to what is happening but I'm looking at, hopefully, going at it on my own. Problem is, the cost of leasing a shop is astronomical, unless I want a really, really crappy shop in the "bad part of town", which I'm not particularly fond of.
I have been browsing options and companies like Wrench sound intriguing because it allows me to work around life's schedules which is beneficial with a growing family. I'm confident in working on other brands, do it plenty at work on used cars, but MINI is what I know and love. I enjoy the cars. I enjoy the people. I enjoy the community.
I'm in the NE Ohio area and would be willing to travel 25+ miles within my home to get to people but I'm not sure there is a market for such a business.
I'm scared, I'll be totally honest. Because I see changes coming which are going to impact my livelihood and I hope I can weather the storm. So here I am, seeing if there are other/better options out there for a person like me.
Thanks!

How many MINis are rolling around Ohio
How many people are going to let you use their garage vs. the driveway in winter. The typical American's garage is a festering hole of junk.
What's the limit of what you want to do. I know when I tore into my old R53 to do control arm bushings, and bunch of seals and gaskets, power steering hoses struts, balljoints, axle boots the garage was a mess for a solid two days and the floor looked like a murder scene. It got done, but i'm not sure a homeowner would appreciate that much carnage, cussing and noise.

Thank you for the response and my apologies for the late reply.
My idea was to keep it extremely simple but after much consideration, I've changed course and am currently applying for jobs in a completely different field and will offer minor repair services (Specializing mainly in brakes and maintenance) out of my home garage for the local MINI/Aircool VW community.
I won't make it a business but rather a side income project.
Have a great holiday season!
