Installing center console lid

I just bought an R56S and the seller (used car dealer) said he would pay for the missing lid part to the center console.

I am totally flummoxed on how this is done. There is a tab on a hinge that projects up at a 45-degree angle; it moves back a bit but not forward or flat. At first I thought it was broken or jammed, but it appears to be designed that way. I am not able to get the lid to contact the tab, and even if I did, I don't see what holds the lid top on so it does not just slide right off.

Has anyone messed with this co

nsole enough to help?

Thanks.

Snap the front portion on like the lid is slid back. Then push forward and snap the back in if i remember right

You may be the only guy on the Internet who has actually done this, so thank you. That was pretty much the move, accompanied by a wince-inducing "snap" as those guides go into place, mimicking the sound of those same plastic guides breaking off!
