Hoovie buys an MC40
Hoovie picked up an MC40 and thinks it's a basket case with his buddy the car-ninja offering a modest(?) $6k and a bit to put it right
Having an R56, not a R53 variant I don't know a whole lot about these. The stickers seem excessive. Anyway, I've enjoyed Hoovies's 'dumbest youtube car channel" videos and am a wee bit jealous that he got hold of some nice Lambos relatively cheap. Not that I could ever afford to service those.
YMMV about your view of the channel.
Those with The Knowledge need to educate him that sinking $6k into a $2k auction purchase and bringing the car back will probably make him break even and hopefully he'll get a bit of MINI vibe along the way. The youtubers comments were the usual dose of ignorance.
He's somewhere in Kansas. Anyone local to him to show him some MINI lore?
cheers

Time will tell. His MC40 will end up on Cars and Bids eventually. If everything is replaced and the car is detailed, he could be okay. Plus it’s just a business expense for him either way.
I bought my MC40 for $4,000 but I estimate I have another $4,000 in it. But, that includes a bunch of metric tools, jacks and jackstands I had to buy just to work on it. The good part is it's almost completely rebuilt with a few go-fast parts included. So, only $8,000 for a quick sports car that's tons of fun to drive just doesn't seem that bad to me when a new Mustang will set you back $45,000.
Thats a big bill, if you do it yourself you don't have a huge labor cost.
