Window Tint

I'm looking to tint my 2018 F60, and I can't find any useful tint reviews. I'm trying to match my privacy glass.

Do any of you have brand recommendations? Should I use clear tint for the UV and heat reduction on the privacy glass?

I try to google auto tint, and all I get are sponsored ads. I have always been a Llumar guy, but it seems like a lot has changed over the years! I'm notmally in NYC, but I'm in Arizona right now, so I'm in Sierra Vista (near Tuscon).

Thanks peeps!

If you want serious heat rejection, make sure its a ceramic based tint. Even the clear ceramic tint will be loads better than the cheaper stuff.

Temporarily in Sierra Vista, huh? Been there, done that a few times.

Ceramic is definitely the way to go, and Llumar is still one of the best. I did one vehicle with Xpel tint, and it's very good, but I've done four or five others with Llumar/Formula One Pinnacle. I always do clear on the windshield for heat and tint everywhere else for heat and light.

it’s dark, I roll the windows down to back into parking spot. I realized on the dragon at night that I need more lights for those runs, I did just get the driver’s window tint replaced that day so I couldn’t roll it down. But let’s face it with this whole COVID thing my night driving or just driving, in general, has gone way down. I do 2-3 times a week go out for a 30-40 minute drive around 430 to 5 am, I’m already up and no traffic, but I don’t have any issues seeing what is in front of me or the shrinking lights behind me 😉 I have nothing on the windshield , eyes aren’t going yet, the wife has problems at night and I have to drive normally, her escape is tinted same darkness per her request.

Well, they free cut the tint. And I'm impressed how it turned out. I'll post about picture when I can roll the windows down!

In my state, being Nevada the tint law states "more than 35% of light in"

To be safe and so I can see at night I believe 50% will be fine.

I'm looking for heat reduction and keeping my face and arms from getting fried.

Any suggestions as to the type of tint that will help me ? Please let me know & Thanks !

in Ohio it’s 35% as well. For the last 20 years my cars have had 20% Best rule of thumb is just roll your windows down when you get pulled over, and I mean all the way down. Can’t complain about it if they can’t see it. Go into the dealer you are thinking about and talk to them, they are the experts and will point you in the right direction. I had a shop, they closed up, that free hand cut every car and they where damn good at it. My new shop did my mustang and I was happy. Brought the wife escape in the just the front 2, and it looks like the factory did it. When I showed up with the mini, they didn’t even ask they already knew what I wanted, got a discount, and a couple pics might be on their website now. I found a couple of small bubbles a week later, pulled those windows and recut the whole car just for the 2 windows, problem solved. We might be talking about wrapping the mini, don’t know if I’m ready to make that jump over a paint job. And they have you sign a waiver if you go over 35% but let’s face it I know what I’m asking them to do.

So I have a question:

Do you pull the window fuses to keep the windows up during the tint job ?

I would hate to mess up my new tint by having the window drop when the door opens ( R53 )

Please let me know . .

My guys pushed the door latch in, as if the door was closed. As for opening and closing the door after tint, they told me to open and close it as few times as possible for a week, during winter months, and for 3 days, during our hottest times this summer. I had to get a new driver side window and had it tinted on the 3rd of July, I seriously crawled through the passenger side for 3 days to keep from opening the door. I didn’t care how silly I looked, my tint looks great.

Normally they put a sticker over your window switches.

That is just to remind you not to roll the windows down, he is talking about the inch drop the window does when opening the door.

I don't have that issue. If I were in your position, I would do one window at a time. Crawl in the car from the passenger side for a few days

Just to be safe, I will pull the window fuses and leave it in the Garage for 4 days............

I would love to go darker than 50% but I don't believe I could see very well at night.

Also, the NHP would love to pull you over just to test your tint % and write you a nice note to "Remove It" as its illegal ...........

You don’t have to pull the fuse, if you are going to let the car just sit after tint, let it sit outside in the sun, this will help it dry faster. As for the darker tint and cops, I have been running 20% for over 20 years with no issues, if you get pulled over, just roll the windows down before they get to the car.
