Hi Community, I have a 06 mini cooper none s with 108k. The car runs and idles fine no lights. However there is a lack of power and poor acceleration. It seems to some what bog down after 1st or 2nd gear. 2nd and 3rd even 4th gears hesitant no real pull, engine revs but little response. Change spark plugs and still same issue. Please help!

Is this a new thing? Is it just recently having this problem, or has it felt down on power since you've had it? No codes? the drive-by-wire throttle makes these feel a little sluggish to respond, and kind of ...squishy feeling from a dead stop, I cant imagine that it being naturally aspirated makes it feel more responsive than the forced induction ones do. Without more info, I'm just swinging in the dark..... A sprint booster helps a bit with those things, if its just how the car is.
If its a new problem, then there may be a code stored. Do you have a scan tool?

 

Thanks for your response. I had only had the car for a few months before i had to put another trans in, so i'm not sure how much power the car actually has. I'm not looking blast off or anything. Its just that for the first 1 or 2 second on initial take off feels good then it seem to bog down for lack of better words and don't really want to pull no matter how far down on the pedal. The motor revs but no real power, not too much fun getting on the highway or pilling out into traffic. i was thinking of cleaning the MAF or MAP but i'm not sure where it is.

Turn off the DSC and see if that makes a difference.
