Help with low end acceleration gains

I just got my hands on a '05 cooper S a month ago, and one of my primary goals is to get more acceleration between 0-2k, I assume it's just no torque. I'm just getting serious into cars, and don't mind getting my hands dirty. I would like to explore any options for this, any advice is welcome!

You can try 15% pulley...there's nothing to speak of before 2k...want sweet spot? keep the revs up between 3500 and 4000+

I love it above 2k, just want a bit more low power, just driving around I try and stay off of the supercharger, and I don't want to have to be on the super unless I have to. I know the super charger is always on, I just feel a very big power gap between 0-2k and 2300. I can feel it pull at 2k, but just looking for something more immediate without having to launch it. That and throttle response needs to be shortened, but that is another time.

Asking for lots of power from 0-2k RPM is a bit much in any car.

You would be happy with a sprint booster or similar. These just modify the electronic throttle control to get rid of hesitation down low and do make it feel a little snappier.

I'm wondering if a 17% pulley wouldn't be better for down low

below 2k, the motor's not spinning the SC much to make much boost...it's 1.6...there's no way to get more low end torque unless you go V8...

I'll just make it a rear engine super car then! Porsche look out! But in all seriousness it just feels like a very different car in the "eco" shift range. One my co-workers even said there isn't really anything you can do with it that low.

Not many cars make real power from 0-2k rpm.

A pulley will help and 15% is good for all around use. If it's a street car (i.e. you don't rev the snot out of it all the time) you can go with a 17%. A modified bypass valve that shuts earlier will help too, but as others have said you're never going to have a boatload of torque below 2k. It's a small 1.6L with low compression designed for forced induction! All you can do is keep the revs up or get it to build boost sooner. Remember that all these mods will reduce your MPG.

R53's are not torque monsters no matter what you do really...(buy an R56 if you want low-end torque....they have massive low-end torque)

That said, a pulley will definitely help you...and RMW has a couple cams that help increase torque down low. The difference in torque from my cam is very noticeable driving around town...

Only a Tesla will do what you're asking from 0rpm...

Just checking my rpms and I never ask the clutch/motor to fully engage less than 1500rpm...just don't slip it too long but that's my normal experience with manual transmission...there's just no way to engage lower without bogging or stalling...
