Anyone else have this problem? It once came loose in a car wash about 6 months ago, this morning I noticed it’s completely gone.
VERY annoying.

 

Replacements are only around $20. The difficult / expensive part is painting them (as they come unpainted.) If you're not a perfectionist, give it a few passes of color and clear. Then some double stick tape behind to give it some extra hold.

Used to think that there were cover thieves running about before I checked back in with my car wash place.

When I had my BMW 3, the car wash would periodically knock out my front tow hook cover (overly aggressive brushes) and I found that not only were they aware of the issue but they had quite the collection of covers from all sorts of cars.

I'd pop in and check with them if you've been there recently.

 

Unfortunately, I'm very OCD and it annoys me that this came off so easily in the first place. Also, seems really F*#king stupid that these do not come painted. Do they REALLY expect you to bring this piece to a professional shop ?

most small trim parts will come primed ... all the way up to bumper covers. When I buy panels for the 79 they come primed .....They'd be more $$ to stock in every color. If your dealer has an associated body shop they will typically hold until they have a job to spray same color then hit small items like this. Not cost effective to mix the color for such a small item. Being small and flat you can get a good result using rattle cans (automotivetouchup.com is a good source).

and a lot of people decide to use a visible tow hook anyway . . .

Thats the correct part, i have not seen them come in primed for that model.

 

Perhaps it’s just the shadow in the pic. It doesn’t mention color in the listing though.

 

Ok, it should have a gloss finish just like one in our picture. Thats the part. We updated the description. You can see on he back side it has that dull black abs plastic.
