Terminology

Being new to Minis I see a lot of acronyms on the site used for mods, parts, etc. Might be helpful to us newbs to have a list of the common acronym, etc. meaning.

The first ones that I learned were:

Justa - The base model.
S - The S model.
JCW - The John Cooper Works model.

I'm pretty sure there's a stickied post somewhere with all of the terminology used.

It's in the 1st Gear forum for new owners: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...eat-sheet.html

Also interested in the mods. There's a term used when modifying the exhaust One Ball, etc. Things like that as well

Great idea. I suggest that the site administrator create a glossary page.

That's a good list,. The Justa A Cooper is sometimes called a Cooper ( NON S ). Coupe used to called for the Cooper hardtop by many until the R58 Coupe' came out in 2012. Some of the names get really long like "R53 MINI Cooper S John Cooper Work GP" for the GP1 as we call it.

There's also an old thread from 6 or 8 years ago that started out as a complaint against 'Brit-speak' that drew all sorts of comparisons.
