You might be better off buying a wrecked All4 and cutting it to fit the hatch body on it. That way all the ECU work is done.

Or get RMW to make another Project X for you with AWD.

I like ^this^ idea. The ALL4 conversion is a cool idea, and if you did it, I'd give you major props. You'd really have to want to do it, because it would be very difficult.

If this would every be done, that would be a huge conversion. Epic build.

I initially had the idea of finding a wrecked All4 and then transplanting everything. Although, Anakist you bring up another option. I'll have to see what the dimensions are of the All4 versus the hardtop. I know they are longer but I'm not sure about the width.

I saw the TV show Getrag did on their MINI back in '06 or '07 at a winter testing ground. Moving the engine to the back helps with not having to run exhaust and a drive shaft in the tunnel of course but anything can be built..
I was hoping the Pacemen AWD wouldn't have been so big and then lower it some and it might have been a cool car..

Paceman might be closer. But then for the cost and everything, you could just get a Paceman JCW .

i want to revive this thread. I would love to hear if this project is taking shape. I always dreams of taking my r56 hatch and transplanting the EVO drivetrain. imagine an AWD 450hp monster. But it's super discouraging because you always get the MINI purists who say "just get another car" "dont drive a mini then."

I never thought of putting an ALL4 drivetrain in.... that would work better i think. I can imaging that all you'd need would be the hubs and drivetrain components.
